UCF Traditional and Accelerated BSN-2014

Published

Hello!

The application window starts January 1st, which is a couple weeks away from now. I am excited to apply though and see what happens. Who else is planning to apply here?

I am planning on applying to both the accelerated and traditional pathways.

Yay!! I still cant stop grinning from ear to ear :)

I think we should wait til the MoA packet and due dates r out to do the starbucks meet up. This is so dates wont conflict. Does anyone have any suggestions on ways to prepare before nursing school? Like I know to review A&P but is there a specific book that is helpful? For those in the program now can you suggest something specific we will be learning our first semester that we can get a head start on? Like the Nursing Process or something???

It didn't occur to me, but you're 100% right. We wouldn't want anyone to be left out because of scheduling. :) I know what you mean, though. I will be just sitting here, calmly doing something, and then suddenly I remember that I got that email of a lifetime, and I can't stop myself from getting super excited. I can't wait to get into this awesome program and put myself to the test and come out a great nurse. And of course I can't wait to meet all of you guys here who have been keeping me calm through all of the waiting.

Hey guys! I found a Facebook group for the Basic BSN people. :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/569645509801463/

I called UCF because I hadn't heard anything back and was getting nervous that I hadn't received so much as a confirmation that they received my reply. I was told that someone would be sending out soon - I assume that means an email.

I have my reply in my sent items but keep worrying that something is going to mess this up!!

I'm going to calm down now. :-)

I was worryingv too then i remembered that We had til the. 16th to reserve our spot. My guess is that they wont send ithe MoA out til that deadline. So everyone gets theres at the same time.

Hopefully we will get it by the end of the week. She did tell me it would be about a week, so in any case it won't be long. :) I'm still so very happy about it all, and so grateful to have been accepted.

Has anyone out there NOT gone to UCFs orientation yet? I waited because I didn't want to pay for orientation if I wasn't accepted into nursing school. Now that I am, it would be really awesome to schedule my orientation with someone who is in the program too. I was planning on going with my best friend (who got waitlisted :( ), but now she is strongly considering other schools.

In addition, is anyone here considering doing LEAD Scholars? Or is everyone planning on doing Nursing Student Association (I think that's what it's called)?

I have my orientation scheduled for the 9th. I'm not sure if it's still open to join for that one or not, but it would be cool to meet someone there. Or others as well, if they're coming then. :)

I have interest in the SNA, but I'm not sure if I will join. But I haven't heard of the LEAD scholars.

What did you register under? Transfer? ftic? general?

I think I am FTIC

I also have my orientation scheduled for the 9th.

I'm under transfer orientation. I think you should be too. I think FTIC is for exactly that- people who have never been to college. Transfer is just for anyone who's coming to UCF from another school, including those like me with an AA from Seminole/Valencia/Other.

Oh awesome. :) I guess we will have to arrange to wear something specific so we can identify one another. I'm not sure how the orientation even goes (As in what we do all day), to be honest. Any ideas?

I was in LEAD Scholars my 1st two years at UCF! Its additional classes (which are in a different apartment so I'm almost positive that CON doesn't permit you to take classes in a different apartment). It takes a lot of time and to be completely honest it wasn't worth all the hype. Personally I would recommend SNA over LEADS- it would stand out more on your resume.
