UCF Concurrent SSC/VCC Fall 2013

Published

Hey guys! I have been searching to see if anybody has started a thread for those who have/are applying to UCFs Concurrent Programs! The ones I am interested in are Seminole State's and Valencia's Concurrent Programs. Has anybody else applied to UCFs Concurrent Programs for the Fall of 2013?!

@livingadream Thank you! I see from your posts that you went through a very similar situation as me: I was wait listed during the last application period as well. Good for you for sticking in there! I was so discouraged, I didn't have as much anxiety this time because I was sure I'd either get wait listed again or not get in at all. Have you heard much about what the concurrent program is like? Do we follow the AS-RN tract class and then just take the extra classes at UCF?

You're welcome! I was very discouraged too. As a matter of fact, when I got the acceptance emails I was SO shocked! lol I had kind of convinced myself I was not going to get picked because I was not picked the first time for the concurrent when I was wait-listed, and then I was outright denied for the UCF basic program. So yea, that was discouraging. I wanted it so bad and the denial was killing me! So I just disconnected it from my mind and figured oh well, it might not happen, its out of my control, and then BOOM, there was the Congratulations email!! I am not sure if its the same during the core nursing classes with SSC, but I do know that at the end it is mostly online with UCF for the bachelors part of it. I look forward to meeting you in the program and congratulations on your acceptance =D

Is the date to reply to the SSC email 5/10 as well?

Yes there are several attachments on the SSC email. One of them is a letter of intent. You have to bring that to them by 5/10. There is an attachment with a long list of things to do by August like drug screen, backround check, vaccination records, ect. They also attached order forms for a stethoscope and uniforms, as well as boot camp info and a welcome letter for the student nurses association. Congrats on your acceptance! You definitely need to call them and get that letter though.

Thanks LivingADream! My letter just randomly popped up in my inbox!! I'm looking forward to meeting you and the rest of our class (:

No one is getting uniforms or anything before orientation, right? It said that they would go over specifics. It just seems like a lot that needs to be purchased!

I'm probably going to wait a little while, but these are the deadlines for getting our uniforms: Important Dates:

Order Deadline: July 26, 2013

Approximate Order Ship Date: August 12, 2013

In Uniform Date: August 26, 2013

It also said to be prepared to buy a polo top at orientation for $28.00 on June 20th =)

Hey guys! I'm new to this forum, but I got into the SSC/UCF concurrent program as well as some you guys :)

I don't really know anyone else who got in so I decided I should see if I could get to know anyone before orientation. Does anyone live in the UCF area that also got in?

I live in the UCF area as well!

Does anyone else know if there is a Facebook page already made for the concurrent program for this class? It would be a great way for all of us to communicate and get to know each other before orientation :)

I'm glad I found somebody else that lives over this way! Right now I don't have a car unfortunately so I'm trying to find a way to get to the orientation. I know I'll find a way, but I want to get to know some people for next year - because I'll still be living near UCF - and maybe find people to carpool with! :)

I went ahead and created a facebook page for all of us in the UCF/SSC Concurrent Program starting in Fall 2013. If you'd like to, please join so we can get to know each other before our orientation =) Here is the name of the page:

Ucf/Ssc Concurrent Nursing Program Fall of 2013

I actually live on campus as of right now and I will live there until August, but i will still live in the UCF area after that. I think carpooling would be a great idea once school starts!

Has anyone physically gone in and turned their letter of intent in? If so, where is that office located? Thanks!! :nurse:
