UCF Cocoa Beach/Daytona Spring 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Published

I am a pre-nursing student attending UCF Orlando Campus. I am applying this summer to Cocoa Beach and Daytona Campuses to start Spring 2013! Eeek! I know there have been other forums regarding previous admissions to the program that have helped me to figure where I stand. I thought it would be nice to have a chance to meet each other, talk about our scores, and answer or ask questions regarding the application process!

I can't find the page either, whenever I search for it the c/o 2013 shows up

]For those of you who didn't get emails, this could be why!

I received this a few minutes ago:

Greetings to all applicants! Thank you for your application to the UCF College of Nursing's BSN program at Cocoa and Daytona. We received far more applications for the program than we have available space to educate. Therefore, we were only able to admit a fraction of the qualified applicants.

]

]All applications were thoroughly evaluated. Initially, applicants who did not qualify or were not fully competitive for admission were notified. The remaining qualified applicants were then invited to participate in a personal interview. From these candidates, selections have been made and invitations to accept a position in the program have been distributed via email as of the afternoon of November 2. Additionally, notifications to candidates who have neither been invited or declined have been sent advising them that their applications are being held pending the opening of a space in the program.

]

]If you have been invited to the program, please read the instructions in your invitation carefully and follow through as directed.

]

]If you previously received a letter of declination, please contact our advising staff for guidance about how you may make plans to improve a future application or receive recommendations for alternate paths to become a Registered Nurse.

]

]If you have not been invited or declined, you have been placed the grouping of applicants that may be invited at a later date. We expect that these applicants will be notified prior to the 15th of December in the event that a previously invited individual should decline their invitation or fail to follow through on the instructions given in their invitation.

]

]Again, thank you for applying to the UCF College of Nursing. We wish you success in you pursuit to become a Registered Professional Nurse.

That doesn't sound too bad. =) But just a little uncleared about the "]Additionally, notifications to candidates who have neither been invited or declined have been sent advising them that their applications are being held pending the opening of a space in the program." I'm guessing people were sent emails of being "waitlisted". Regardless, I haven't received any emails and I'm pretty sure it's due to the email address confusion on the CON part. Monday is so far away lol

:(

Since everyone's posting GPA's and such I had a 3.62 cum (it will be a 3.7 after this semester tho) a 4.0 science and 4.0 pre-req (I had originally posted lower because of a mixup) and an 89 on my teas...I also have an AA and 106 credits (I almost completed a bachelors in bio lol) I guess when I'm done with college ill have almost 6 years under my belt 

Any girls interested in rooming together in Daytona? I have no clue about where to live or any of that!

I am so happy to all who have been accepted into the program! I hope to be in your place come next spring. I have been following this forum for a while (not to be creepy, I promise) to see where my standards should be at. I honestly don't think I have a shot. All of you who got in have AA's and had some experience in the field and your GPA's and TEAS are rather high. I have the minimum GPA. If I keep going the track I'm going I will have a 3.5 prereq and a 3.7 overall. No AA, just 60 hours transferred. Im going to volunteer at TGH starting next Friday (I doubt that would get me anywhere though). I guess I have to just study hard for my TEAS and do well on the interview then?

I'm so nervous you guys, I'd kill to have a spot there! Congrats again to all who got in! (:

I was accepted to Daytona. I have a 3.97 overall GPA and a 4.0 in the prereq classes. I had 84 on my TEAS test. I didn't feel very confident in the interview, because I was the oldest in my group. I was the only one married with children. I guess they liked me after all.

@Katiligan Don't be discouraged! I have no experience in the field and my GPA isn't what I would have loved it to be, many here have far higher (3.4 cumulative) but I did well on my teas (90) and I imagine the interview went well seeing as I was accepted. If you can balance it out you have just as good of a shot as anyone!Also, we were told that what was "competitive" is based on the pool of applicants for that cycle. So this year's standards may be different from next years, all depends on who else is applying with you. Best of luck!!!!

Okay im still waiting on an email. They are supposed to tell us either way and i havent gotten anything.. is anyone else waiting ?
