UCF- Accelerated BSN Starting Summer 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Anyone applying for UCF's accelerated BSN program beginning in Summer 2012?

@Sunshine you are 100% correct, the orientation is Wednesday & Thursday May 9th & 10th... we have off on Friday and begin on Monday the 14th. I would be as prepared as possible because those things took forever (and weren't cheap either might I add). BTW you need the BLS for health care providers if you are considering getting CPR certified.

Thanks for the heads up! Fortunately my employer requires the BLS for health care providers so I am all set with the CPR portion! :o

Have those of you on the waitlist started getting vaccinated or doing CPR training? Those things require a lot of time so I am just curious to see if you all are ready to go on May 9th. I know this is so stressful but I am confident that some of you will be in the program and I look forward to studying with you in a few weeks! :paw:[/quote']

Hi,

Do you know where to get CPR training in Orlando? I cannot find any specific place to get the training. Is it required before the class start?

If you go to the American Heart Association you can search for places that offer CPR classes in your area. Most of the places have a schedule up with upcoming classes and there are a few before May 14th ( I think I remember checking and FL Hospital is one of them). It must be the BLS for healthcare providers by the AHA standards. Some classes are an 8 - 3PM thing or shorter in the evening. Depending upon the location it's about $60 too.

Find a CPR Class

Sunshine is correct except for the timing. My class was from 9:30 am -1:00 but we were let out a bit earlier. I am in Miami, FL so I didn't look up CPR sites in Orlando. Like sunshine said, you need to have it done through the American Heart Association and on their website they have a list of dates and times. Don't be nervous, there are A LOT of CPR classes multiple times during the week. To answer your question, yes CPR is required before you can start school as well as all of your vaccinations being up to date, fingerprints and drug screening also needs to be completed. Let me know if you have any additional questions that I may help you with.

Thank you sunshine and 3ZEUS&LINCOLN. I checked the website, is the class "BLS for healthcare providers" for nursing requirement? The price range is from $50 to $60. I know there are many steps to follow before the class starts, so I would like go ahead to accomplish some of the list.

Yup, that is the one!

Wow I can't believe only one person from here has been called from the waitlist so far ?

I agree it seems like they're behind this year on notifying students.... at least after today we know that they no longer have any other program acceptances going out anytime soon, that is after the concurrent today. Hopefully they start to really clean up the wait list too..

Actually, I think they still have Valencia's concurrent program acceptances going out in 3-4 weeks; I have a feeling that was what the delay was (since the deadline for that one was March 30th).

Has anyone on the wait list heard anything? I am slowly loosing hope, but at least I am now BLS certified :-)

I haven't... UCF is saying that May 1st is the last day they will be calling people off of the wait list apparently. :uhoh21:
