UCF- Accelerated BSN Starting Summer 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Anyone applying for UCF's accelerated BSN program beginning in Summer 2012?

There are 60 accepted for the accelerated program.

@hkk1895 Thanks. Sounds like that is in total? So maybe 20 for each session?

I'm talking about the program-60. If you are referring to the orientation there are hundreds of people there. I guess I'm not understanding your question.

In the acceptance email it states which session you are accepted to. For me, it is session C. So, I was curious as to how many per cohort. I would imagine that since there is an A, B and C session, the 60 that were accepted would be broken into 3 cohorts, thereby leaving 20 (or less) per cohort. That sounds manageable to me. I am researching the student to instructor ratio. Thanks for your help! I appreciate it.

We will all be summer C. Summer C encompasses the whole semester, while A and B are compressed sessions within the summer. Hope this helps!

Oh! Okay. Yes, it does help. Although, I'm thinking we won't all be together? 60 students per class? Hmmm...

hockeyucf is correct. Your entire cohort will be attending Summer C. For the lab courses you will have about 10 students to an instructor and for academic classes it will be all of you per instructor which sounds crazy. In my experience though, I have had no trouble with accessing the instructors. They are all very approachable and available.

Also keep in mind that you will be split up into smaller groups of 10 (or less) for your clinicals. Your clinical instructors work closely with classroom instructors so they are pretty aware of what we are learning in class. So if you need to have something clarified from class often your clinical instructor can help.

That's great. Perfect. Thanks everybody. I really appreciate it. Now I just have to figure out when orientation is!

Yep...and it's super boring and 98% of doesn't apply to second degree seeking students. It is really geared toward true college freshman. There is a breakout session though specifically for the college of nursing that is somewhat helpful. Go ahead and schedule your orientation. It'll be one thing on a list of many that you can mark off!
The nursing orientation date has not been announced yet, correct? And when it is announced it will be about a week before the first day of class? But we should reserve a spot for regular UCF orientation now, I take it.

I wonder if I can do the general orientation May 11th or if that would be cutting it too close. I don't live in Orlando and don't want to have to make a special trip.

If they do things like they did last year you will be in a College of Nursing mandatory two day orientation the Thursday and Friday before classes start.
