Hello Everyone!
I am considering applying to UBC Nursing for the September 2012 intake... but I'm not quite sure if I'm eligible to apply...
My primary concern is my post-secondary credits... everyone seems to have already completed a Bachelor's before applying? As of now, I have 40+ credits... by the end of June 2010 I'll have 50+ credits (which is the deadline for all transcripts), but they're a combination of first-year science, calculus and language courses with only a couple of second year o-chem... would that be ok?
I am currently a Langara student, but I have studied at SFU before until my relocation.
I've also read on the website that the average age of applicants were 21-47 (please don't quote me on this, I can't remember the exact range)... and I'm now 18 (will soon turn 19 though), but I have the requirements it's just that I'm unsure if it's alright that my 50+ credits are mostly first-year...
My GPA now is 3.3 and hoping to boost it up after this semester...
I volunteer regularly at a senior home and am a certified lifeguard and swimming instructor, worked part-time at Timmys until relocation and now have a part-time job at a local grocery store... I just hope age isn't that big of a deal because I know what I want and I'm working for it...
Should I apply at all...
(Very Worried. HELP Please!!!)
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
I think as was mentioned the alphabetical idea had been eliminated before. It is sure a hard process to understand though. I have no idea why it takes this long to inform everyone. Obviously all the applications have been scored or they would not know who was eligible for an interview yet. I do not understand why they seem to send some everyday? Even if they are sending out 500 responses? Seriously, a form letter via email. Perhaps there are a whole lot of maybes?
Again, it's hard to concentrate on anything else. I keep rereading my supplemental wondering where I could have gone wrong or done better.
No relief tonight though, hopefully tomorrow, and hopefully good news!!!
^Realistically, they have to send personalized messages to each interview candidate, roughly 180 (Dear so-and-so, interview date and time, verifying correct email address), and doing that alone will take some time. I don't think that it is possible to send out all interview offers in a couple days as they are probably doing it manually.
I have no idea what method they are using to send e-mails out to interview candidates, but since we don't know, I think we are all right to still be hopeful, regardless of the first initial of our last names. I assume that they would have to have some sort of method though, as I can't imagine that they just have a "yes" pile and a "no" pile and are proceeding in random order. That would be utter chaos as they need to be able to easily track who they've sent replies to or not if they've lost their place.... Alphabetical would be one way to do it, but there are so many other possibilities (date of application, interview date, average grade of supplemental and gpa). Either way, it doesn't seem that anyone's figured it out.
Another day of waiting tomorrow. I just want to know... I have been putting the job hunt on hold as well as booking my last exam because whether or not I get an interview offer changes my decisions about both of those things.
And my theory, SIMBURGER, was only a guess, so please make any judgments about your situation based on it. There are so many other ways they could be ordering how they send out invitations: by student number, a number randomly assigned, or other system that has the effect of driving us all nuts!
Wishing all of us still waiting so much patience right now.
Hi, I just received my invite as well. It came from an actual individuals email account, so I do think they are done manually... explains the wait.
@VanessaDarlene, no feedback re my application just date, time, location of interview basically. Mine is also scheduled for the Tuesday same as twoplusthree
My thoughts are with everyone still waiting, all the best

Some people are saying it's alphabetical - I'm a "D" so I guess my time has passed. Does anyone know when the rejection letters go out? I need to mentally prepare myself for the worst!
