Congratulations to everyone accepted. I received my email and I am number 1 on the waitlist. I am very pleased with my results as I was sure I would not be accepted compared to all the impressive applications everyone else seemed to have. I got a 4 for admission average, 3 for supplemental, and 1 for CASPer.

I applied with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and a certificate from SFU. My grades were not the best, I think about 3.3 GPA. I have volunteer experience from a nursing home helping those with Alzheimer's and dementia. I have various work experience: Tim Hortons, ECE assistant, warehouse prodction, accounting assistant, etc. I am not sure how they choose who is accepted or not, but it seems they really care about the CASPer results.

I also applied to BCIT and got into the top 15 waitlist. But UBC is my first choice. Very glad I will have the opportunity to go to UBC nursing!

I feel like UBCs grading system is subjective. I thought that if you got 1’s across the board you get accepted but even if you have a 3 in an area you can be waitlisted.

I got my acceptance as well! I honestly can't quite believe it; I have such a different profile to all the amazing applicants who described themselves on here; I don't even know what my gpa is as I did my university in another country/grading system and it was quite a long time ago! (I'm going to be representing the somewhat older side of this cohort 🙂 )

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted - looking forward to meeting you in September! - and really really good luck to all those on the waitlist and those who were rejected this time around. Good things will come your way!

I GOT ACCEPTED !!!! The round of phone calls I just had to make to my family just adds to the excitement. Can't wait to meet you all in person in the fall. 🙂

To everyone who is waitlisted, keep holding on! You never know what may happen.

To those rejected this round, don't give up! There are other schools, and another year to apply, just keep building your supplemental application as I think that is what really helped me get in. It's not all grades, so don't get discouraged.

@Candace_K Exactly. NEVER give up. And @RD19 I second you -- I thought that because I didn't have a bachelor's degree yet or vast amounts of healthcare experience (next year would have seen me finishing up my UBC FNH degree) I had barely little to no chance of getting admitted. Perhaps they saw that my passion for Nursing shone in my Personal Statement and in my descriptions of my activities. Whatever they saw, apparently we were good enough in their eyes, and I'm SO HAPPY for all of you who also got accepted!!!
