I just wanted to see who else will be applying for this year? I'm already excited to start classes next week for the last of my pre reqs. I just finished 12.5 years in the Air Force so I have 60 hours of college completed before joining. If anyone else is in A&P I or Micro with me let me know. I look forward to this year in many ways.
I am planning to apply for a nursing program, but I have heard and read mixed comments about UALR and UAMS. Are the classes very difficult to adjust to? Is it true that UALR will drop you from the program for minor mistakes? Do you know the retention rate (estimation)?
It depends on what you consider a minor mistake. I've seen students dropped for drawing up meds wrong, like insulin. But even a small amount of insulin is a big deal, so not like simply giving an extra Tylenol pill.
In clinical, when we went to get patient info the night before, and during clinical, we were expressly told we had to hand copy all needed info, and not allowed to print out or take phone pictures due to patient privacy rules. I saw students dismissed for doing both.
As for retention, 259 started in that very first class. We lost about 60 during the summer intro class and another 60 during adult 1. Then we just lost a few each class until the last semester when we didn't loose anyone.
SuccessIsAMust1996 you do have a good chance of getting in. I was initially placed on the waitlist but I was accepted about 3 weeks after they sent the first batch of acceptance letters. Goodluck! You all should be hearing from them soon. They started notifying people last year around the second week of April!

Wow Test every other week? That is a lot and very stressful, but in the end I know it would have been well worth it. Does every class consits of dosage calc?
