Hi everyone!
I wanted to start post for all of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock nursing school applicants. Priority application submission starts today and ends Feb 28 but you can still apply after, you just risk being placed on the waiting list. I have all prereqs completed for ASN except Micro which i will take this summer and all completed for the BSN program. My nursing GPA is a 3.5 and my combined is a 3.7. Best of luck to you all!!
I heard that they will continue sending out emails once we return from spring break. they SEND OUT ACCEPTANCE EMAILS TO ALL STUDENTS WHO HAVE THE HIGHEST GPA AND MOST PREREQS DONE FIRST, (3.4-4.0) then they send out acceptance emails out to the students with the mediocre grades second,(2.6-3.0) based upon which students from the first wave decline and space availability. (sounds harsh but its the truth) if we are waitlisted there is still hope! Keep the faith you guys. if we don't get to join the may class , there is still room to start with the July class hopefully.
at first when I didn't get an email like the rest of you all I was crying so hard. last year I went through this and didn't get in. I had to sit out a whole entire year taking bull crap classes waiting to reapply, and the fear of going through this again is just eating me up. however I know God is able. and if I don't get in there are still other options out there. Never give up on your dreams! Delayed but not denied!
You are ranked by the gpa of your pre-reqs, and how many of those you have completed. You have to have at least a 2.0 with the university, but they are mainly looking at the gpa of you pre-reqs and how many you have completed. The more you have done. The higher your chances are of getting in. You can use the ualr gpa calculator on the ualr website to add up the gpa of your prereqs to get an idea of where you stand.
I would definitely try for Baptist's program if I were you. I think they start looking at applications at the beginning of April and the deadline to apply for July admission is June 1. I went to Baptist 6 years ago for their surgical technology program and my husband went to Baptist for his Medical Technology degree, but the nursing program seems to be the main focus of the school. I know a few people who went through/are going through that program and they seemed to really like it.
Thank you Robison! I figure that was case it just tough for me since I'm coming out of state and I'm holding up my plans because I'm waiting for my letter! I have completed all of my prerequisites besides microbiology which I am currently enrolled in. I have also completed my Upper BSN requirements besides writing because I have to take it over in the summer since the one I took at my school doesn't match UALR.
I have a 3.1 prerequisites and overall 3.5, so I'm hoping I get in. Reading past threads a lot people with low gpa got accepted so hopefully I'm lucky and praying to God.
One question even if I get accepted the first round, can I chose to start in July? Just that I would miss the first week of classes in May because I have payed for a trip during that time months ago.
Elexus, in the acceptance email I got, it told me that my first class would start May 29. So I assume that's non negotiable because they have to have room in July for the second round of acceptance so if you try to do July but they initially placed you in May, that might mess up the class numbers. I'm definitely going to be calling and asking though bc just like you, I have a trip during the may session that I had just planned on missing lol
thanks yall for the info! @ELEXUS, you should be fine then!! you'll probably be in the next round of emails they send out, when did you apply? did you apply early? like around Jan?? that plays a part too. I would definitely call them and ask about the whole class swap situation, but they are probably going to be like "you either accept and be there or decline admission and miss out, or choose to be waitlisted." it is such a competitive program, and they have sooo many applicants that they put on hold to reserve a seat for the candidates that they've already chose, so I highly doubt that they will accommodate your plans. it'll basically be like your declining admission. but i would suggest that you CALL AND TALK TO THEM. because they are really nice, they may work something out
I submitted my application on the first day it opened. I know that they have looked at my application because I got email on March 8th asking if I was in the nursing program at my school because they seen on my transcript some nursing classes I have took and currently am taking. I emailed back saying no those are prerequisites my school nursing program required and she reply back saying thank you and that she will finish processing my application.
I then just learn on last Wednesday that the lady who emailed me, emailed the chemistry department asking if my chemistry class was equivalent to UALR on March 8th as well, but they didn't respond until March 14th saying it does.
Anyhow I'm hoping that's a sign that I'll probably be chose next time they send emails out.

I don't! I assume it has something to do with how many pre reqs you've done and what your GPA is. I know that doesn't help like at all lol. Sorry!
