Nursing Students NP Students

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to start this thread for the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) MSN program Fall 2019 applicants. We can use this thread to keep track of the application process, GPA, application deadlines and acceptance or denial letters. Also as a way to stay sane during this stressful time. Support each other during this journey to become an Advanced Pracrice Provider.

I am applying for Fall 2019 MSN Psych Program for PMHNP. I finish my BSN in May 2019 and have my ASN with a GPA of 3.76. My GPA for the BSN should be 4.0 if all stays the same grade wise. My letters of reccomendation are from the program director ar my University, a member of the Faculty team and the Nursing Director of the Surgical Services Department at my workplace. My application letter is APA formatted with at least 3 references and close to 800 word count. Application deadline for the PMHNP track is Febraury 21, 2019.

What specialty track are you all applying to? What are yor GPA scores. Do you plan on taking the GRE? Share any thoughts.

Hey guys,

While we are all running around like chickens, the difference that I've noticed from the decision letter page is that some people's page allows them to apply again, while others does not. Mine does not have the option to apply again.

It looks like most of the ones posted have the option to start a new application on that front page. Yours doesn't have that?

No, but I also went to undergrad at UAB and work at the hospital as well. Could be related to already being in the system.

I know I should know this already but UAB doesn’t help you find preceptors do they? I’m just wondering

If you are in the Birmingham area I believe they do. Otherwise they can try and connect you with clinical sites near your area. They have a Medical School, so I think they may have plenty of MD alumni that may help us.

I don’t believe so, my friend is currently looking for a preceptor where we live. We also live out of state.

I logged into the Salesforce site (I explained how in an earlier post) and I was not admitted. It had my admission decision on there. Totally shocked; had a great GPA, LOR, essay, etc. best of luck to you guys

oh no, I'm so sorry ? Does Birmingham do a waitlist? like what if people decline their acceptance, do you still have a chance? I'll just have to wait for the letter in the mail to find out, that trick doesn't work for me :(

nevermind I was finally able to get into salesforce on my phone using your trick, but they have barely any information on me. All they have is 4 documents that I submitted with my application and my email. nothing else. Where did you see the decision?

I GOT ACCEPTED! I was able to log in using the banner number and pin to my student profile.
