UAB MSN Fall 2019

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to start this thread for the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) MSN program Fall 2019 applicants. We can use this thread to keep track of the application process, GPA, application deadlines and acceptance or denial letters. Also as a way to stay sane during this stressful time. Support each other during this journey to become an Advanced Pracrice Provider.

I am applying for Fall 2019 MSN Psych Program for PMHNP. I finish my BSN in May 2019 and have my ASN with a GPA of 3.76. My GPA for the BSN should be 4.0 if all stays the same grade wise. My letters of reccomendation are from the program director ar my University, a member of the Faculty team and the Nursing Director of the Surgical Services Department at my workplace. My application letter is APA formatted with at least 3 references and close to 800 word count. Application deadline for the PMHNP track is Febraury 21, 2019.

What specialty track are you all applying to? What are yor GPA scores. Do you plan on taking the GRE? Share any thoughts.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say the application process so far has been smooth and straightforward. UAB has received my transcripts and recommendation letters already and all the information updates on the online application tracker. Now all that is left is to wait anxiously for the deadline to pass and the decisions on admission be made. To be honest the hardest part of the process was chasing after my recommendation letters, professionals seem to have a knack for being busy all the time. I would advise to have a talk with your references on why you chose your specific track, which schools you are applying to, and why you are choosing UAB. It will make their process a lot faster. Good luck to all!

Hello Everyone,

After the site update for Allnurses.com, I wanted to share some thoughts on how the application process is going for the UAB MSN Fall 2019 program. I spoke with the school recently and they let me know they had received all the information they needed and that based on my GPA I would not need to take the GRE for admission. All that is left to do is wait for the application deadline to pass and decisions are made.

Good luck to all of you out there that are applying to this program. We are here to support you through the journey.

Does anyone know when they plan to release decisions this year? It looks like last year decisions were rendered at the end of April, which seems kind of late. Also, I'm curious about the acceptance rate? Applying to the FNP program.

The website states that decisions are made 60 days after the deadline. However, past years have received their decision letters late april. Good luck to you!

I'm so excited to find this thread! I applied to their WHNP program and am anxiously waiting. My GPA is a 3.0 because I got my BSN and MSN at WGU and they have the pass/fail grading system so you can only get a 3.0 maximum. But I'm hoping I have a leg up on the application since I already have an MSN degree and all my references come from WGU's faculty. I guess only time will tell. Good luck to the rest of you waiting for a decision too ?

Good luck to you! Keep us posted if you hear anything from the University.

Yayy, congrats!!

Does anyone know how many applicants they admit for the AGNP and FNP? Those are the two I have applied for. My GPA is 3.2, GRE is decent, and my recommendations are solid. The only thing I am worried about is the APA essay. I have heard that they haven’t selected candidates in the past for not citing correctly. Good luck to everyone!

Their acceptance numbers are a mystery but I know they are extremely selective since they have a great reputation with cheap tuition costs. From what I have heard they put a big empasis on the essay. I did as much proofreading as I could and got some tutoring help for the APA. All I can do now is pray.

PNP program, patiently waiting.
