Hello all. I graduated last year from Canadian nursing school. I had some family issue so I had to leave Canada for about a year and now reconsidering to take the nclex exam. But since U.S/Canada combined the exam into nclex, I'm wondering if it's possible for me to take the U.S nclex and then use that license to work in Canada. I heard if you pass Canadian nlcex then you're eligible to work in the U.S but not vice versa. Does anyone have information about this?

It's the same exam but you cant work in Canada with a US nursing license. Just like you cannot work in the US with a Canadian license
Ah..maybe I've heard wrong information...:-(...Thank you so much for your reply!

Just because both countries uses the NCLEX as part of the license process doesn't mean you miss going through each country's licensing requirement process. I would suggest checking out your provincial college of RN's website and check if you do that NCLEX in the US after meeting US state requirements that you can transfer results to the college and that they will accept the results otherwise you may find you have to do NCLEX again if you plan on working in Canada as a RN

I would imagine the process should be the same as a nurse changing which state the person works in, you have to be approved by the state board of nursing where you want to work.
