to whom it may concern,
it is with great pleasure that i write a recommendation for xxx for volunteer service. i have known xxx in a personal capacity for ten years. in that time, i have watched her develop into an independent, self directed person who is able to communicate effectively and meet even the most demanding challenges. she is currently pursuing a career in nursing, with a desire to specialize in women's health and labor and delivery. as an employee of x hospital myself, i believe that this facility will provide the atmosphere where she can witness excellence in the care of women and newborns by a multidisciplinary team. she will also have the opportunity to become familiar with the roles and rewards of nursing.
she is an intelligent and personable young woman. i feel confident in saying that she is capable of handling any situation with thoughtfulness and maturity, and can quickly develop an excellent rapport with people of all ages. i believe she could be an extremely valuable asset to your organization as a volunteer, and perhaps one day as a nurse.
if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
sincerely,
I wrote a letter of recommendation for a friend. This is a first for me and I would your feedback. Many thanks!!! Also should I sign my name w/RN,BSN??To Whom It Concerns,
It is with great enthusiasm that I write a recommendation for XXX for volunteer service. I have personally known XXX for ten years. (In What Capacity?) In that time, I have had the pleasure of seeing her develop into an independent, self-directed person who is able to communicate effectively and meet even the most demanding challenges. For example __________. She is currently a first-year student nurse and plans to specialize in women's health and Labor and Delivery.
As a Registered Nurse myself, I believe X Hospital will provide the atmosphere where XXX will witness excellence in the care of women and newborns by a multidisciplinary team. She will also have the opportunity to become familiar with the roles and rewards of professional Nursing.
XXX is an intelligent, capable, dedicated, and personable young woman. I feel confident in saying that she is capable of handling any situation with thoughtfulness and maturity, and has an excellent rapport with people of all ages. She is an honest, caring individual who will make an extremely valuable asset to your organization.
If you have any questions, please contact me. (How?)
Sincerely,
XXX, RN, BSN
Wow! It sounds like she walks on water.
It's a glowing recommendation, for sure.
Just be certain that you mean it and feel it to the full degree that you're saying.
You will be judged by her performance. If she's as awesome as you say then stick with it. If you're not certain that she'll be an "extremely valuable asset," you might want to tone down the superlatives a bit.
Just for information purposes, the academic degrees precede the license descriptor (BSN, RN). They can take your license away, but they cannot take away your degree. This is a common error even in textbooks.
I have never seen BSN or any other degree come before RN. It's always been Nancy Nurse, RN, BSN, CCRN, MICN, etc.
Here's one article that discusses the customary (but fairly rare in nursing) method of listing credentials:
