U Penn Second Degree ABSN 2017

Published

Hi Everyone! I have not seen a thread started for the UPenn ABSN 2017 cycle yet! I wanted to start one and see if anyone else out there wants to chat about it! Very excited to hear back this month!

I submitted my app on 10/14/16 and once all my LORs were submitted 10/28/16, I received an email my application was complete and under manage my account, it states my app is ready for review!

Anyone know when the exact program start date is for BSN/MSN program FNP?

jmroh, do you mean the start date for the Accelerated BSN? According to the website, last year they had orientation on June 13-15 with first day of school on the 16th, so I'm assuming orientation would start on June 12-14, with a first day on the 15th this year. But I'm just guessing! For something more concrete you probably want to ask FC. If you mean for the FNP start date after the BSN is completed, then I have no idea.

Are you definitely set on matriculating to Penn or are you deciding between schools? :) This was a top choice for me, so I'm just hoping for a reasonable (understatement!) amount of financial aid. I'm still waiting to hear from another program though.

Is anyone else waiting to hear back from Vandy? I'm very unsure between the two as they both have a lot of strengths. 3 years at Penn vs 2 years at Vandy?

I'm still waiting to hear back as well. Vanderbilt is my first choice for geographic and price tag reasons, but I'd be happy to go to Penn if they do not accept me. I feel like Penn's BSN program wouldn't be the most efficient use of my time, since I don't really want to take a break in between the programs to work. I hope we hear back from Vandy soon!

I've heard back from Penn & Vandy and got into both and am feeling SO TORN! I really don't know where I'll end up. My instincts are making me lean toward Vanderbilt, but I don't think I ever let myself get too attached to Penn because I was convinced that I wouldn't get in.

Wait, you heard back from Vanderbilt already? When? Are you prespecialty?

Dang sbellamy, CONGRATULATIONS on Vanderbilt!! I haven't heard of anyone else getting any kind of notification from them yet. You're lucky!

Anyone deciding between Emory and Penn? I also have MassGen as an option but I don't know much about their program. Definitely starting to stress a little about making a decision!

what a coincidence! I'm also deciding between Emory and Penn. I'm leaning toward Penn but I'm going to wait until I get my financial aid packages to make a final decision. What are you leaning toward?

Did anyone else apply to just the ABSN program, not the BSN/MSN?

Just a heads up I was on the waitlist for Psych BSN/MSN originally and got an offer today which I just turned down so hopefully that means good news for whoever is next in line!

June 12th start date!
