U of D Mercy 2nd degree students

Published

Hello,

Just wanted to hear experiences from current or former U of D student, I'm accepted to the May 2008 class.

Thanks

Hey faithful1, was it hard getting into U of D's program? I'm going to the info meeting tomorrow on the 16th to get as much information as I can about the program. Do you have any insight you may want to give about the process of U of D, I would truly appreciate it.

Hi, Sirena922

The process has gone very smooth. I applied to U of D last year for the May 2007 start date. I was accepted to the program before I completed my prereq's. When I applied I had seven prereq's. to complete. I communicated with my admissions rep. constantly via email. I would complete a course and send over the transcripts, follow up with a phone call. I ended up enrolling in a LPN program and not completing all of my prereq's so when the U of D rep emailed requesting the rest of my prereq's for May 2007 admission i was not prepared. I let them no and requested to be considered for early admission to the May 2008 program. In July I received my acceptance letter. I filled out my pre-registration card and mailed my $300.00 to reserve my seat. That's it, nice and smooth. My undergrad gpa is a 3.78.

Faithful1, how much will you be paying for the program at U of D?

About $32,000. 58 credits and fees.

Hi,

Did u finish the program? I am entering this May.

I am a current student in the UDM program. I started in January. So far things have been going pretty good. Let me know if you have any questions. I would be happy to offer any help if you need it!

where are the clinicals generally??? What should study or prepare b4 I enter? Thanks!

It is hard to say for clinical--they have a contract now with Trinity health. So far we have been at different hospitals-St Joes AA, Doctors Hospital, and various others for psych rotation. We don't have our clinical placements for next semester yet. I would know your anatomy and physiology really good it will help you going into pathology.

thanks 4 the tip I see the book list is really long are there any books on there that r really unnecessary or should I just get them all & is it a must 2 spend $100 on a stethoscope?

I have only completed the first semester. I did need all the books so far. I would recommend buying them on half.com. I found them to be much cheaper. I replied to your other post with the questions. But for a steth- I have the Littmann Master Classic II but I don't think you need that nice of one. Here is a link to the other one most people have and they seem to like it. http://www.stethoscope-gallery.com/main/home.aspx
