U of Calgary Degree holder route Winter 2014

Published

Just wondering if anyone else also applied for the winter 2014 admission to UofCalgary? I am just a little bit scared of not being able to get in, because my first degree was taken on a really part time basis (over 6 years, including a 1.5 year break). And my CGPA was really low (About 2.7). However, after taking another full course at UofT and taking the physiology/anatomy requirement online at Athabasca university, my transfer GPA over the last 5 full courses/10 half courses is about 3.59. So theoretically, I think I should be able to get in. However, i'm wondering if anyone knows how schools look at people who take a really long time to finish undergrad (with a really average GPA) and whether this will affect their chances of admission?...

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Thanks so much to all!

I don't recall there being a deadline for accepting or declining indicated on the U of C portal but this may be something you would want to check with admissions, just in case. All that was required when I was notified about being accepted was to log in and click the "accept" button on the U of C portal. Then they tell you that you should register for courses and pay tuition before the tuition deadline, which I believe is January 24, 2014. However, it would probably be your best bet to contact someone at admissions to make sure all of this info is actually correct. :)

Sorry if my answer wasn't all that helpful!

Hi guys,

I am also waiting for an admission status! I called the admissions people and they explained they admitted people with a gpa of 3.5 and over. Individuals with a gpa of 2.6-3.49 will be admitted upon evaluation by the school of nursing.

The school of nursing said they are currently starting to admit people up until december. I've been anxious about being admitted as I need to fix my finances ASAP if I get in. I was wondering if they are admitting gradually based on gpa? I have a 3.3 in my last 10 HCE/30 credits, so hopefully that'll be good enough.

does anyone else's profile say "awaiting faculty decision" ??

yea mine is. anyone with a gpa of 2.6-3.49 should have that status.

Has anyone who has "awaiting faculty decision" status hear anything yet?

Nope! Have you?

Has anyone who had been admitted received their information package from the faculty of nursing? Apart from my letter I have not received anything else and I'm getting a bit concerned!

No, i called them more than a week ago and they said they would start admitting more ppl.

My status still says awaiting faculty decision. One of the admission staff said they were going to call me back after they looked at my course equivalencies but it's been a few weeks now.

i called them maybe a week ago, and they said november for admitting.
