who typically does the interviewing?

A week ago I submitted an application and soon after, I got a follow up call. Now, I have an upcoming interview which happens to be my first nursing interview *nervous* I don't know what I expected, but I was quite surprised when the office manager who contacted me said that my interview was with the director of nursing! talk about going straight to the top! Is that a typical scenario? If it isn't, should I take that as a good sign? I guess I thought hiring was more under the job direction of a HR personnel or a nurse manager, so the prospect of being interviewed by the DON herself seems unusual and very daunting to me!

    Just relax, and be yourself. One of the smaller hospitals around here (part of a larger network) has the hospital CEO interview -everyone- from MDs to maintenance workers.

    They're just looking for folks who fit in with the image they are trying to give the public.

    It depends on the facility. When I interviewed for my position, I had to interview with the director of the program, the nurse manager and someone in Nurse Recruitment. When I was an aide, I interviewed with the nurse managers from 2 floors since my time was to be split between the two. On my current unit, my manager does the interviewing though she has been having staff speak with the prospective employees as well. She hand picks who she will allow to speak with them because she knows that the vast majority of us would tell them to run far away!
