Tyler Junior College ADN Fall 2019

Published

Hi all! My name is Angela and I am enrolled at TJC, currently taking my pre-nursing prereqs. I plan on applying to the Fall 2019 ADN program, and I'm hoping to connect with others who share the same path.

Let's support each other and share experiences! I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Angela!! Hopefully you will still get this message (it has been a while). I too, am a student at TJC wanting to go into the ADN track in the Fall. I have my interview on Thursday! I would like to connect and share experiences! I don't have any friends up there at the college and would love to meet new people!

Did yall get accepted? Im looking into applying for the Spring, and curious about the point system and what the cut off is.

Hi Cheyenne. Yes, I got accepted into the fall program. As far as the point system goes, did the advisor give you anything? I remember them giving me the breakdown for each thing. I'm not sure if I still have it. I believe you get an extra point for As (2 points) and 1 point for Bs. 1 point for being in district, 1 point for taking your classes at TJC, completing Micro with an A is 2 points (I believe it is a prerequisite now), .... I cant remember all of them. Does this help?

Yes, thanks! I’m going to see advisor next week! I’m just worried since I didn’t do too good on the TEAS!

What did you make on it?

I made the minimum score(didn’t study too much) lol and I don’t have time to retake it! I made As in both A&Ps and a B in micro.

You will be fine ? I made a 75 on my Teas. An A in A&P 1, B in A&P 2, As in all my psychology classes and micro.

The thing that is the MOST IMPORTANT that I think alot of students dont really take seriously, are the immunizations requirements. Especially the Hep B if you need them. It can take up to 8 months to complete the series and you have to have the complete by application deadline.

You think so? I’ll only have like 31 points total for application.

And why does it take so long to complete them?

I really think so. I had a total of 30 points, so you have one point more than me.

It takes so long because you have to wait a certain amount of time in between shots. It is a 3 shot series. The earlier you get it done, the better. I would suggest getting your titers drawn right now to see what your immunity looks like for your requirements.

Oh okay. Makes me feel a little better!

I’m checking on the hep B now and I think I’m gonna go tomorrow for the titers!
