TXST St. David's School of Nursing Fall 2020

Published

I haven't seen a thread for TXST's nursing program, so I decided to make one. I know applications are closing soon and I'm SUPER nervous, to say the least ?. How's everyone's experience been so far?

So nervous. I applied back in November. It's the only school I applied to because I'm irresponsible. March can't come soon enough. ??

Same! I procrastinated on applying to UTMB (I REAAALLLLYYY didn't want to move to Galveston) and missed the deadline. I lowkey regret it now because my chances of getting into UTMB were a lot higher than my chances at TXST ?.

What are your stats? If you don't mind me asking.

Mine are:

3.5 prere

My answer cut off and I wasn't able to edit it to add more

Mine are:

GPA: 3.5

Science GPA: 3.4

TEAS: 84 overall (I'm not sure of the individual scores but they were all in the 80's)

No healthcare experience, but I do have my BLS and volunteer experience.

I know! I was planning to apply to UTMB as well, but I missed the deadline. ?‍♀️

GPA: 4.0

Science GPA: 4.0

TEAS composite: 94

Majority of my credits come from a junior college instead of TXST though, so I feel like I'm probably at a slight disadvantage,

I don't have any prior healthcare experience either, but I did include volunteer work and that I was a lifeguard this past summer.

I'm super late replying lol, but I'll be applying to UTMB this time around since the application closes a few days (maybe weeks) after we get our admissions decisions. I was supposed to apply to UT Health in San Antonio too, but I thought the application closed mid-February and not the 1st?‍♀️.

Your stats are WAY better than mine. Most of my credits are also from a community college. I graduated with my associates in interdisciplinary (general) studies in July and now I'm only doing one semester at TXST since some of the prereqs weren't offered at my school. But I think they accept about 30 or 40% of non-TXST students into their program so you might have a good chance

How do you feel about your personal statement? I think I ran mine through Grammarly about 5 or 6 times just to make sure there were no grammar mistakes ?

Yeah, I was also thinking about applying to UTMB for spring 2021 just to have a backup. Also considering SHSU though because their application don't close until like July. I just haven't really heard much about their nursing program.

The fact that you already have an associates will look really good on your application, that's great. And yeah I heard somewhere that they try to keep the admittance of TXST students at 60%? I just really hope maybe there was a low turnout of applications this year. lol I know a TON of people that switched their majors to healthcare admin when they were all lined up to apply this semester, so fingers crossed it's a trend. ?

I feel okay about the essay. I'm pretty sure I have at least one typo in there somewhere, but I tried my best. I just really hate writing about myself.?

I saw in some previous threads that around this time, people were getting fingerprint/background check emails. I haven't received anything like that yet though. Have you?

I wish this thread was more active and not just the 2 of us so we can all have more info ?. I haven’t gotten anything. I think they’ll send out the emails this upcoming week. I saw that they sent them out starting on 6 or 7 February last year, so maybe we’ll get them once the weekend is over.

I think TXST has one of the lowest app turnouts of all public universities in Texas just because of how “inconvenient” and “complicated” the application process is compared to the online ones on NursingCAS. They have a 30-50% acceptance rate so maybe we’ll have a good chance ??

I know! Kinda weird how we’re the only two people. I feel like past threads were so much more active at this point. Maybe it’ll pick up soon

I just called the SON to see when our blue cards will be coming in and admin said that it depends on when the application was received and the Board of Nursing is only sending out the blue cards to people who meet the minimum qualifications. They send them as they look at the applications and they’re still looking at the applications, so ??

My application wasn’t received until a week before the deadline so I probably won’t get mine until the end of the month.

Agh I'm so nervous. I just want to know already lmao

Went to the open house in Round Rock yesterday and was told that letters will go out on the last Friday of March. So the 27th.

Only 34 more days. ??
