Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

Still waiting........However, I am beginning to have nightmares about calling the school to follow-up and hearing "We don't show that you applied to the Nursing Program"! OMG - why must my mind play these games? LOL - Hopefully, it will be today. To make matters worse, I live pretty far outside of Houston, so I'm sure mine will be delayed in the mail. Remaining positive!

Just to let you know I called NH on Friday and they said they are "Hoping" to have letters sent out by the beginning of this week. I just checked my mail and NO letter. All this waiting has literally made me sick! I just want to know already!!!

Hoping??? Oh my goodness, is this a test of my patience?

So not fair NH is taking so long :-(

I spoke to MorphoTrust (formerly L-1) and found out that the personal review was something extra and unnecessary.Duh, right? (:

Hey! Guess what?!?! I'm still waiting......LOL

Me too! I just checked the mail and still NO letter. They probably think I am crazy but I called AGAIN!!!!! We should get them by Friday and if we don't we need to call. Here's hoping for tomorrow.

Your craziness is refreshing, as I'm doing the exact same thing. I just dropped off my car to get serviced and saw our mail lady and was VERY tempted to hunt her down. :specs:

So I guess if the school already has your background information on file (say if you took another program there, ex: cna) you don't have to do a background check and automatically get your blue card in the mail. At least this is my understanding of the email she just sent me.

@Alexandria8263 the CNA or the PCT programs that lead to a certificate have a different background check than the LVN or ADN programs. If you have already completed the specific background check prior to this current application period you should have already received your blue card from the BON. There are several students who have already received their blue cards because they have either completed a declaratory order for the BON, or they have completed the background check required for the LVN or ADN program. If you have not already received your blue card then you will have to complete the required background check via the instructions in your acceptance letter. The background check required by the continuing education courses (CNA or PCT) and the LVN or ADN program ARE different. For the CNA or the PCT certificates, the background check does not require fingerprint scanning, where as the LVN or ADN programs require the fingerprint scanning and the BON does their own review of an individual's background. If you have any further questions I would advise you to contact the BON and ask them if they have information relating to your background, chances are if you had a background check complete for a CNA or PCT as those background checks are monitored through NACES, the BON does not have your information. NACES and the BON are two different entities.

The reason I said that is because cy-fair just e-mailed me saying:

"You are receiving this email because board of nursing has your information on file already. You will not have to complete the background check. However you should still receive a blue card in the mail. Please submit a copy of this card to the nursing department by June 30, 2012. Thank you."

So I'm curious, because my background check isn't clean so wouldn't I have to do a DO to the BON? (also I have an DO from the BON that I received last year I applied for NH but couldn't continue due to certain reasons, so if I need one I'm wondering if I can use that)

I'm about to turn in my intent to enroll form right now, so I guess I'll find out in about an hour or so. :)
