Hey all! I could really use some help. I am trying to fill out the application for the NCLEX-RN online.
Under "Name Information," it states that "Punctuation and/or spaces are not accepted for the following three name fields." Well, my first legal name is in two parts, "C L"
My professor said that if I input my name with out the space (like "CL"), then that's how it would show up on my license and would be incorrect.
I have tried to contact the Texas Board of Nursing, but since it is already after hours I cannot get into contact with anyone until Tuesday morning.
I wanted to get it done right away and not have to mail in my application because my professor has set our jurisprudence exam to be due in a few weeks and she said that it takes 15 days from receiving our applications for the TX-BON to open up the jurisprudence exam for us.
Does anyone know what I should do?

When I applied online I used my two first names separated by a space.
The board, however, will only use the first name preceding your second first name and you need put both as that is your given first name. If you have been using your two first names with everything, from school credentials to government documents you need to write both.
Thank you! So I put in both first names, separated by a space on the application. When I hear from the board though, they will only use the first part of my first name, correct?
But every time I sign anything, I use both first names? I've been using both first names for everything, and this is the first time I've ever run into any trouble with it, so I just want to make sure I understand!

You will only be addressed by the board with the first name preceding your second first name. If you have two first names on your Texas driver's ID or any Texas issued id, then write both of your first names on your application because your application may be delayed or denied if they find any discrepancies with your identification.

I just tried to fill it out and I put a space in between the two, and when I tried to submit it gave me an error saying "First Name is invalid." :\

So should I keep trying to input "Charisse Lyn" or "Charisse" or "CharisseLyn" ? I'm terrified of having my application delayed or denied lol.
Use Charisse. It'll show up on their computer that you have two first names once they do their background check and that's going to be the least of your worries.
Okay thank you for your help! :)

hello charisselyn! so how did it go? i, too, have two first names and im getting paranoid if i input it incorrectly.
Hi moki9204! I called the TX-BON on Tuesday and on the first page where it says to input your full name on one line, followed by your SSN, put a space between your two first names. On the page that has you input each part of your name on separate lines, they told me to put both first names without a space. You can make changes afterwards since they will see from your SSN that you have two first names.
If you are really worried about it, you can fill out the paper application and mail it, but it will take 15 days from the day they receive it for the application to be processed.
Hope this helps! :)

Thank you for the information. I thought it will take 10 days to process the application and I was starting to worry because until now there's no update of my application. I hope nothing happened though.
