Twu weekend nursing program spring 2011

Published

Hello All!

:yeah:

I am currently a student @ TWU in Denton, TX. I earned my BBA in Finance from UNT in Denton, but I feel that Nursing is my true calling! I am taking my pre-reqs right now. I am going to take my HESI a2 in summer 2010. I am going to apply for the TWU fast-track weekend program for Spring 2011. I wanted to start a forum to see if anyone else is in the same boat and/or applying to the TWU weekend program 2011. I hope to meet some new people and gain insight into the world of Nursing!

Hey guys,

Just wanted to do some rumor control. I'm the Admissions Coordinator at TWU Dallas. The program accepts 45 students each year, in the spring. The Fast Track, which has been discontinued, accepted students every other year, but the Weekend Program is completely different. Admission is firm at 45 students and they're not going to be expanding the class size any time soon. Be sure to check the website (www.twu.edu/nursing) or give us a call or email with any questions you have about things you may have "heard" about the program. Thanks and good luck wherever you apply!

Any plans on adding any non traditon programs in Houston?

I'm only familiar with the Dallas programs. You probably want to contact the Houston campus directly to find out more about the programs they will offer, or keep checking the website for any announcements. I'm usually the last to know when changes are made!

I am also planning on attending TWU in the spring of 2011. Just registered for the TEAS V entrance exam. What advice can you give me regarding the exam if you have taken it or if you know anything about it?

I am applying for the weekend program for the upcoming Spring, but I was wondering if anyone knows where clinicals are held. Also, are classes/clinicals only held on Saturday and Sunday, or is there something on Friday as well? I'd appreciate any information!

I don't have the specific hospitals that work with the Weekend Program, but first year students in the traditional program at TWU go to Presby Dallas, Presby Plano, Baylor Grapevine, Baylor Irving, Methodist and Zale. Weekend Program students could expect similar assignments. Lectures are 5-9 pm on Fridays, then labs and clinicals are Saturdays and Sundays from 7am - 3pm.

Thanks for the information! :)

TWUDallasAdvisor,

Can you give us details about the traditional Dallas nursing program? Are there on-campus dorms/apartments? What are the price ranges for off campus apartments? I just received my acceptance letter and I'm having to choose between the Houston and Dallas campus and having a difficult time.

Did anyone get accepted to the TWU weekend program? Where is everyone?

Hi Lev,

May I ask what the update is on your nursing status? I'm considering enrolling, but I have fears about starting this while still working full time. I need something flexible and I can't find a flexible school that allows FT day shift people an opportunity to take classes and clinicals.

TXnurstud,

It has been a long time since your post. How are you doing now? Are u in the program? I'm interested in TWU and UTA and understand that UTA is 15 months instead of 24 months, but it is so intense that you cannot work. TWU weekend program has all full time working folks. If you are going there, can you tell me your thoughts of working full time?

Has anyone completed the weekend program at TWU? If so, were you able to work full time or part time during the program, or not at all? If you worked full time, how was the school load? In other words, was there alot of school work to be done during the week before the weekend came?

I heard the UTA AP program is very intense, are students able to work at the same time?
