TCU/TWU Clinical Sites

Any suggestions on which sites are really good clinical sites from previous students? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

anywhere but the arkansas site ... b/c that's where i'm applying and i don't need any more competion !!! :rotfl:

No Problem, my friend. Bro-in-law is a pig sewie (or whatever lol)! Trying to stay in Texas. Heehee. We should get along just fine. lol

:rotfl:

The jonesboro site in Arkansas is really good, in texas hmmm, Harris Methodist is supposed to be a good one but now with competition from TCU, also with TWU the Lubbock clinical site is supposed to be really hard core keeping you very busy but learning a lot. Good luck!

Duckboy,

Have a question for you.

Tell me about Plaza Medical in Fort Worth as a clinical site. I am starting in TWU this Fall 2004. I sent them my choices last week but I think I am going to Plaza Medical. I wanted to go to the Shreveport area hospital but I think im gonna be in Plaza medical. Any inputs will be nice.

Thanks, T

I think only one TWU student is assigned to Plaza. I had a friend who went to the Shreveport site, not LSU but the other, and said it was really good. She said she learned a lot. The only part she did not like was the Conroe part because of the living situation or something. Otherwise she said her experience was great!

All of the facilities in Ft. Worth: Harris, Plaza, JPS (although not sure this is still a clinical site) are all used to having students, and are all probably pretty good. I worked at JPS for 17 years...it is the county hospital & a teaching facility...I know many CRNA's that did clinicals there...my choice would be there...just simply because there are so many people from all disciplines doing clinicals there...education, training, & clinical experience is in the air.

Unfortunately I am not quite sure about the Plaza clinical site. I have heard it is pretty good from a few people but actual experience with it I am not sure since my site is in Arkansas. I have a lot of friends at the Shreveport clinical site where they will be starting their clinicals this fall and they all talk about how good it is there. Sorry I could not be of more help

Xigris, just want to let you know that even though you have the Plaza site now and want a Shreveport spot, there is a good possibility that someone from the shreveport spot might want to switch to a clinical area closer to Fort Worth and they do allow you to switch if that is the case. So there might still be a way you can get into the Shreveport area

Ah that is good to know!!! Will come to class first day with cash in pocket!!! HAHAHAHA

true i think there is only one student at plaza. I would not enjoy harris or my self. i worked there on travle contract before i started school and it seems the students dont get to do as much and niether do the crna's there for that matter. it is the flagship clinical site though. we hear there are many more sites comming availble. possibily in ohio and some otheres i cant remeber.

colton has a rep as being good. not sure why. John Martin is from there I think wich could be part of it the hype. I think there is a stypen there. and they let you get a lot of good experince.

I am going to lubbock they work hard but do everything. the man power shortage will be fixed this year wich will cut down on call.

matt.

This may be a silly question. Not being in a CRNA or any Nursing program (interviewed last thurs), what do you mean by clinical site, other than thats where you do your clinicals. You have to apply for the site seperate from the CRNA program that your in?....I am confused. I assumed that when you got accepted that the school just sends you to the nearest student hosp to do clinicals.

Thanks
