TWU Nursing Applicants - Fall 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Just about a year early here, but I wanted to create a thread for Fall 2019 applicants. This is my first time joining a nursing forum; so, let's give it a shot.

Hi,

For those who need to finish the series of Hep B vaccination, you can actually get Twinrix accelerated series for adults, which take about a month to finish the whole series (given on a 0,7, and 21-30). I applied for a different ADN program that requires applicants to submit immunization records even before getting an acceptance and thought I had to wait to next semester to apply since I initially got negative Hep B titer. But the nurse in that ADN program suggested to get that Twinrix (both for Hep A and B) series, and followed with the titer after 30 days. You can actually contact your doctor's office or Walgreen/CVS if they carry these vaccination, I got them done in Walgreen and all were 100% covered by insurance. Just FYI.

Has anybody tried logging into "TWU blackboard or canvas"? I tried using my pioneer portal username and password but it didn't work. I'm not sure if we have to create a new account with the blackboard. Also, do we have to create an account with the Castle Branch first in order to submit our compliance requirements?

I think maybe you have to be registered in some classes to be able to log in. I think...

Does anybody know the exact text we need for our fall classes or where I could find this information? Im looking to order by books soon. I already ordered the Patho book because im taking it in the summer. But I want to at least get pharm text and the others ready before the end of summer.

Thank you! I'm currently signing up for a CPR class and I remembered that they had mentioned to do 'everything' starting on the 10th, so I just wanted to confirm.

I signed up through this, and once you get into the website, there will be dates available for you to choose. All dates are after May 10th. So it is okay to sign up early.

Yes, absolutely! It's on our facebook group "TWU Houston Nursing Class of 2021" It's $60 for non-TNSA members and $50 for TNSA members. The class is 4 hours long. Here's the link

Hi guys! Longshot- but does anybody know what scrub vendor they changed to? I thought i’d ask here before I send an email. They said they changed vendors so they didn’t have scrubs for us to try on but I figure if we know the vendor I can find them in store to try on for size before ordering.
