Just about a year early here, but I wanted to create a thread for Fall 2019 applicants. This is my first time joining a nursing forum; so, let's give it a shot.

I have a sorta personal situation, and I don't expect anyone to know the answer but I figured I'd ask anyway. I'm just looking for any sort of advice/help. So I know we have the first part of orientation this Friday, May 3rd, but our second part of orientation is Friday, August 23rd. My problem is that I had already booked a flight for that weekend months before, even before we got our acceptance letters, and my flight leaves that day on Friday, August 23rd. I tried to see if I could change my flight, but they are charging me an insane amount to do so, so then I just figured I would cancel it, and turns out that they only cancel reservations that have been done within the past 24 hours, which doesn't apply to me. So basically, I'm screwed. Missing orientation isn't really an option for me as I'm worried that I will probably miss important information, details, etc. BUT missing this flight would mean missing my sister-in-law's bridal shower...and I'm the maid of honor. Sorry for the long essay, it just made sense to me to explain everything! lol!
Anyways, does anyone know what that orientation will cover? Is there a specific person that I could email/call in regards to this? Is missing this orientation even an option??
thanks so much for your help!
Wow that’s a tough call especially you’re the maid of honor. I don’t know any details about the orientations, but I’m sure you can always ask them about it this upcoming Friday since you’ll be able to make it there for the first orientation.

Oh, yeah! I probably should've added that I'm at the Houston location! The "Admission Checklist" in the admissions packet states that we have orientation on August 23rd, as well. But i don't know if that is just the Houston locations or all locations!

yes! I figured I would just talk to someone at orientation this Friday, and hope that I can get some useful info! thank you!

oh! Then yeah, Im guessing it's only for traditional students?? I'm hoping it's not mandatory considering that we're doing all of the important stuff on the May 3rd orientation, but I'm still gonna ask! thank you! Mr. Echoles' email is [email protected] correct?

I won't be able to attend this Friday's orientation, which -- I assume -- is even more important than the August one! I spoke to Ms. Baudler ([email protected]) and she's the one responsible for orientation in Houston. She said she'll meet with me at another date to fill me in on everything. You should email her! I say go to your sister's bridal shower. You'll be just fine!

OMG! thank you so much, this definitely helped! I greatly appreciate it! ?
Hi guys, I got accepted into Houston campus. Before I even turned in my application to NursingCas, I spoke with an advisor about Hep B vaccinations because I was told it would take 6 months total to be fully immune. I asked her and she said we didn't need to worry about it but on the packet, it says that we need it by the time we start school in August... We got the acceptance packet late March so that's not even enough time to get it done by August. What should I do?

I just started my series...however im in the N&W program, but i think as long as you have started you should be fine. You can ask at orientation, but i know for sure i won't be completed by that time frame, however I will have everything else

Same - I haven't heard anything about an orientation on 8/23. But I'm a night/weekend student. Not sure if that is only for traditional students.
