Published

Just about a year early here, but I wanted to create a thread for Fall 2019 applicants. This is my first time joining a nursing forum; so, let's give it a shot.

Will do

It seems like if you're 22 years old or older, you are not required to get the meningitis vaccine? Has anyone got theirs done?

Specializes in Critical Care.

My high school required it so I got mine done back then, and I think a lot of Texas school and colleges require it. I think it has to do with the fact that bacterial meningitis is spread among people who live in close quarters like dorm rooms. I guess they don’t require it for people 22 and older because you’re probably not living in a dorm? Also I think it’s more of a general institution/state requirement than a CON requirement. The website says if you’re old enough you don’t need to get it or file for exemption.

That's correct, I don't live in the dorm. Thank you for the insight, hopefully, i don't need it.

I emailed the school to make sure. And yes, when you’re 22 or older you don’t have to get it.

Where can you get the quantitative titers done?

Have you checked with the clinic at the Denton campus?
