TWU Nursing Applicants - Fall 2019

Published

Just about a year early here, but I wanted to create a thread for Fall 2019 applicants. This is my first time joining a nursing forum; so, let's give it a shot.

Specializes in Critical Care.

For those wanting to take Patho over the summer, so far there is only one face-to-face section available (its from June 3rd to July 6th). Because there are only 60 seats in the class, it might be worth considering registering before orientation since it could fill before then. Many students take patho before even applying/being accepted into the program, so you don't have to wait to register if you don't want to. Just wanted to put that out there for those that want to take it in the Summer ?

There’s an online one available that would probably be better for the N&W applicants because of work schedule

Yes, those you need a registration code for. I believe it tells you on the page who to contact if you want to register for one of them

I thought we have to wait after orientation to register the class.

You can register for Patho before being accepted into the program so that’s why a lot of people take it beforehand

Patho is the only class that's part of the program that you can take early. I took it last semester. As long as you've completed both A&Ps you can register for it! For all of the other classes though, yes, we register together at orientation. If you choose to take Patho in the fall with the rest of your classes though then yes just wait till orientation. I was just saying this for the sake of getting a spot in the summer section before it fills.

I think Houston has only online path available, but I could be completely wrong. All I see is 60 seats available for online.

Hey guys! I have a question regarding immunizations. For the Hepatitis B vaccine, I got them done when a long time ago. Do I have to get them again or is it just a one time vaccination? Also, where are you guys getting them done? Does anyone know where they offer them at a good price?

If you got them previously, all you need is the records and positive titre you don't need to take them again. I get my shots at Garland public health clinic. I see some students there and they give 2 copies of the records each time you get a shot. Its also really cheap if you don't have insurance. My baby got a Hep Bshot for $14 (in Jan) price might be different for adults. Also if get multiple shots they reduce the price.

Didn’t get into Dallas Traditional this year with something like 48.3 points. So incredibly excited for each of you that got in. You will all make amazing nurses! Hoping to apply again in spring 2020 with a higher TEAS score, but again so proud and and excited for all of you that got accepted!

I just created my Facebook to communicate with you guys for the Houston campus. Name is Tida Pm, please accept!
