Hello, my name's Tien and I'm going to apply for TWU Houston Fall 14'. I noticed there's a topic for Dallas but none for Houston so I'm starting this one, hoping it will be a place for us hopeful applicants to come and share information.

BTW, my stats are: GPA 3.892, TEAS V 85.3%, 2/4 first attempt, and previous BA in Business. I'm scared b/c of my "1st attempt" since I see most that got in have 3 or 4/4 ...

I was wondering if you recommend any nearby apartments near the school? Of course anything in the medical center is out of the question due to high costs but I am open for anything that is about 15 minutes away, or access to the bus rail. Thank you!

Check out the Ridgepoint Apartments. It's not the nicest place to stay but it's cheap and only 2 miles away from campus.

Check out Nob Hills Apartments, I believe its 9miles away, the place doesn't look too shabby and all utilities is paid for, you just pay rent.

I did mine on 5/8 and received it in the mail on 6/4, so a little over a month.

Is anyone taking patho this summer?!?! I wasn't able to take the class over the summer but I want to study so I'm not overwhelmed. I bought a huge note set just to get some stuff down before fall but there is sooo much. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have a weird question. I know I'll get weird looks but whatever! So unfortunately while I was in community college, I was working so I had to drop many classes various times because of the work schedule. Yeah it was irresponsible and I honestly thought I'd be able to take the courses fine but work always got me away. I mostly have A's and B's but I'm afraid that nursing schools make a big deal out of that. I've never made an F's.

Do nursing schools put a lot of emphasis on class retakes?

I can't say for sure they do or don't... What I do know is that TWU looks at GPA (which Ws don't count toward) and they will look at some classes to see if you made a grade the first time you took them. I think they looked at A&P I/II, Micro and Stats.

Other than that, I don't think they look at particular classes just an overall and if you have your pre-reqs done. I am sure it will also help to be "core complete", but I don't think they care - it just makes life easier once you are in.
