TWU Fall2006 students

hello twu classmates!!! :welcome:

i wanted to start this thread so we can all get to know each other.

i'm andrew; i am 33 and have worked in human resources for the last 8 years. i can not wait for the change in career. i know i will make a great nurse, but for now i just have to get through the next two years :)

i don't know which will be more of a relief, having received my acceptance letter or giving my resignation letter to my current employer. i hope i never have to work in front of another computer all day again.

hope to hear from you,

andrew

Hi Andy.. I am not going to be in your class because I just graduated from TWU- Dallas this past May 2006. I also was in HR as a recruiter for about 7 years. Good luck to you.. nursing school is very difficult and the most challenging thing I have done but once it is finished it is so worth it. Also, you have something going for you.. your age. I think it is important to have maturity and work ethic when going into nursing. It will be considered an asset. If you have any questions about classes, teachers, or just nursing stuff feel free to email me.

Have FUN!!!

Hello there! Good luck at TWU. I just graduated this past may and am just now starting my new job. I am also in my thirties and nurses is my second career. IT IS AWESOME! TWU is hard be prepared to study! If you need any helpful insight feel free to give me a shout while it is fresh in my mind.

Hey Sandra:welcome:

I finished Patho during the Spring semester along with my woman's studies class. I had off this summer to have surgery :(.

I have the books, but have not read a word yet. I am afraid that if I read it too soon before class starts thatI will forget it all. I wish we could download the pharmagolgy book already. I got a new tablet PC I would rather read it on than to lug that huge book around.

I do not plan to work for the first semester. During Christmas break I will try and get a job with a local hospital if I feel that I can handle both th job and school.

I love these forums and wish more of our classmates knew about them.

See you soon:)

i got the "cliff notes for statistics" at half-price books in sugar land before i started the class in the spring.it seemed like a really helpful book and explained things in a condensed version.....i didnt need it though. it turned out to be the easiest class that ive ever taken in college. it wasnt that bad at all. i think you'll do fine-it sounds harder than it seems. just brush up on algebra and you'll do good.

i dont know if this applies to dallas as well but at hcc i took the stats prereq but it was a psychology stats not the math stats. you can take the psyc stats for twu as well and its soooo much easier than the math stats class (usually for business or math majors). i am horrible at math and made an a in the class. good luck!

For those of you who were accepted, what did it take? What GPA? And, are you in Houston or Dallas?

Hello all!

I am starting at the Houston program this fall and am so excited!!! If anyone wants to meet up for happy hour sometime in the Rice Village, email me at [email protected]. I am waiting tables at Brian O'neils right now, but I have a feeling I will have to quit very soon. Do any of you have jobs? I need one to pay for my apartment in the med center. Any suggestions other than taking out another loan? I'm thinking about teaching SAT at Kaplan down the street or something. AHHHH! And so it begins!
