  1. future_nurse08 if you are planning to ride the bus, be prepared! it is an eye opening experience. the light rail and tre train are a little better. i would do a test run this week because public transport can take a lot longer than if you were just drive there. if you drive, you will have to buy a parking sticker or get there early enough to park on on the side of the street were you are able to for free. guage14iv, the 3 blocks is more like 1/2 a mile. i walked it a few times last semester and it was a really good trek. twu does not offer a discount on dart passes but most hospitals do, i wonder if while we are in clinical, they will let us buy them at their discounted rate? see you in class next week. have you finished all the reading? i have the jarvis reading left to do. peace, andrew
  2. I am at the Dallas campus. I was accepted the second time I applied.
  3. Hey Sandra:welcome: I finished Patho during the Spring semester along with my woman's studies class. I had off this summer to have surgery . I have the books, but have not read a word yet. I am afraid that if I read it too soon before class starts thatI will forget it all. I wish we could download the pharmagolgy book already. I got a new tablet PC I would rather read it on than to lug that huge book around. I do not plan to work for the first semester. During Christmas break I will try and get a job with a local hospital if I feel that I can handle both th job and school. I love these forums and wish more of our classmates knew about them. See you soon:) Andrew
  4. hello twu classmates!!! :welcome: i wanted to start this thread so we can all get to know each other. i'm andrew; i am 33 and have worked in human resources for the last 8 years. i can not wait for the change in career. i know i will make a great nurse, but for now i just have to get through the next two years :) i don't know which will be more of a relief, having received my acceptance letter or giving my resignation letter to my current employer. i hope i never have to work in front of another computer all day again. hope to hear from you, andrew
  5. Orientation was cool! I didn't stay till the end because I had to study for my Patho test the next day. I wish I could have stayed to listen to SGA and TNSA. Taking Patho and my WS's class these last few months, I have been so impressed by how nice everyone is. Students and instructors are always smiling and saying hello when you walk by. It just drives me nuts that I got Methodist for my clinical site. I think I will start a thread for all the Junior 1's starting this August so we can get to know each other. See you in August, Andy
  6. One of my favorite sayings is: "Never get your honey where you make your money!" Just wanted a chance to use that line.
  7. Hello men, I have been accepted to Texas Women's University fall 2006 nursing program and would love to hear from any men out there who have gone through the program or will be in the fall 2006 class. Any information regarding the program is appreciated. Thanks, Andy
  8. I was accepted as well I am currently taking Patho and my woman's studies class on Wednesdays at the Dallas campus. I bought the newest edition of the Patho book because that is all the campus bookstore had. Don't waste your money on it. Buy the 4th edition on Ebay or Half.com and save yourself some money! If you want to get Dr. McArthur's Patho notes, The Office Depot at 8330 N Stemmons Freeway sells her notes for around $15.00. You just need to ask for her BIO4344 notes. So far we have had two test and the 3rd will be next Wednesday and all the questions have come from her notes, so you might be able to get by w/o the book. See you all on May 5th!! Andy
  9. Congrats!
  10. TWU (Dallas) acceptance is based on GPA (80%) and NET (20%). I was accepted for Fall06 with a 3.9 GPA and 80% on the NET. I am not sure what the cutoff was yet since the letters just went out last week. I should be able to find out after spring break. I know that the Fall06 group was the first with a .4 GPA bump for students who have taken their core courses at TWU. It had been just a .2 bump before. Good luck with your application and on the NET!
  11. Thanks msjoseph. I am in Patho now. Hopefully that will help come September. I also work full-time - I am so ready to give my notice.
  12. Thank you foxyhill21! I hope the rest waiting to hear back from TWU (Dallas or Houston) get the same letter I did. If you don't get accepted, don't give up hope. This wasx my second app with TWU. Last time I was accepted for Houston but not Dallas and I can nt afford to move to Houston so I waited for the Fall 06 class.
  13. Thank you lexcourben! It was my second attempt.
  14. I just received my acceptance letter from TWU Dallas for Fall 06 :)
  15. I received my acceptance letter today. The letter was dated 3/3/06, but was mailed on 3/10/06......This was for the TWU Dallas program.
