Hey guys, I know it's a little early, however, I decided to start this thread as the application process will be soon upon us.
How are you studying for the TEAS?
Wishing all the best! :)

So while we wait for mid March to get here, lets pass the time. What are your career goals with nursing. Ill start off, after I finish my BSN at TWU I plan of working in critical care for 2 years then look into a advance nursing degree. I plan on getting my DNP in CRNA. I want to both work in a hospital setting and possibly teach. I have wrote out a 10 year plan. What are some of you all goals?
Those are great goals! I have a much shorter plan than you because I am not really sure how everything will work out. When I graduate with my BSN I want to work in the NICU, then I will probably switch to the ER, or something with lots of blood, lol I love trauma stuff. And then after I work a few years, I might go back to school to become either a NP or PA. Im not sure yet if I would like to go back to school again, but who knows I am only 23 years old. I also plan to have more children, I already have a 5 year old daughter so im not sure how things will turn out with work and family!

I'm 32 I will be making a career move from banking to nursing. I have over 10 years of experience as a Mortgage Loan Officer. The nights and weekend options work best for me. Ill be able to work and go to school.
I have a previous Bachelor's in Psychology and worked as a case worker for a mental health clinic for a little over 2 years after I graduated from UT in 2013. For the last couple of years I have been working for a title company. I too applied to the night and weekend program hoping to be able keep my job while I complete the program. Can't wait to get out of this cubicle! Desk jobs aren't for me! Though, I am thankful to have the job to pay the bills while I am in school! Good luck everyone! Hope to see you'll in the fall!
I've thought about going that route as well, but I am not set on it yet. I was able to shadow a surgical nurse this past summer and was able to observe the CRNA's in the OR. I definitely can see myself working as a CRNA. When I graduate, I am hoping to land an internship/residency in critical care and then go from there. I want to keep my options open, but still get the experience I need just in case I do decide on anesthesia.

I have a similar plan to those looking into becoming a CRNA. I definitely want to work in critical care for a couple of years. Then I would either go back to school for an advanced degree to become a CRNA or maybe go another route and do care flight. A girl I went to high school with is now a NICU care flight nurse and I just think that would be the coolest job ever. I've never flown in a helicopter before, but I love to fly in planes. I would prefer to do something that is high intensity. I view anesthesiology as being on that level too. You're literally holding their life in your hands while monitoring every little thing. I'm currently a licensed property and casualty insurance agent and I'm 26 and cannot imagine doing this for the rest of my life; sitting in an office, quoting people's insurance; its the most boring job ever. I want to do something exciting, and difficult, and something that makes a difference.

Quick question. TWU Houston's Traditional BSN program takes place just during fall and spring semesters with summers off, right?
