Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey guys, I know it's a little early, however, I decided to start this thread as the application process will be soon upon us.

How are you studying for the TEAS?

Wishing all the best! :)

Specializes in Critical Care.

So while we wait for mid March to get here, lets pass the time. What are your career goals with nursing. Ill start off, after I finish my BSN at TWU I plan of working in critical care for 2 years then look into a advance nursing degree. I plan on getting my DNP in CRNA. I want to both work in a hospital setting and possibly teach. I have wrote out a 10 year plan. What are some of you all goals?

That's awesome! I have a similar plan myself. I would love to work in surgery, ICU, or neuro while being a RN. After I earn my BSN, I want to get certified in critical care and go for my DNP to become a CRNA as well. Anesthesia is something I have been interested in for some time. I worked as a pharmacy technician when I lived in Chicago at a level 1 trauma center. Going into the OR rooms and filling up the anesthesia workstations was fun because we had to get dressed in full ppe. What CRNA programs have you looked into?

Go for it!! I heard CRNA make the most money and have great job satisfaction. I currently work in a Psychiatrists office and my Masters is in psychology so I want to rush through my BSN and then do Vanderbilts Psych NP program because they don't require you to have two years working as a nurse and then work as a provider in my current office two days a week and my home doing telemed in rural areas where there are no mental health providers. And since I'll only be working 4 days a week I want two more little boys lol.

One of my friends is currently finishing his PhD in at Vanderbilt. Great school I think he is in the Sociology program their. I know his bachelors was in Psychology.

That sounds like a awesome experience. I have looked into TCU and Texas Wesleyan. If I decide to leave the state I mostly likely will apply to .

Is anyone else on here going into nursing as a mid-life career change? if I get in, I will be 50 when I finish the program and moving from a business career into a long time dream of nursing. It is exciting but also very intimidating since I know I will be going in and competing for jobs with much younger applicants...

I'm 32 I will be making a career move from banking to nursing. I have over 10 years of experience as a Mortgage Loan Officer. The nights and weekend options work best for me. Ill be able to work and go to school.

Great to hear someone else is in a similar situation. Hopefully we will be able to meet this fall! (I also applied for the nights and weekends program)

I am also changing my career after working in the lab for almost 10 years. I submitted my applicaiton on 01/30/2018. I applied the weekend programe because I want to keep my current job to pay the bills.

I was told the weekend program is very competitive because only 30 seats will be offered. My points is 57.7. My TEAS score is 87%, which is the average one.

Hey guys! I'm a little late to this post, but I wanted to add my stats to the page. I'm applying to the Dallas program.

Nursing Core GPA: 4.0

Pre-Req GPA: 3.65

TEAS: 89.3%

My total points on the excel is a 52.20. Do y'all this this is a competitive score? I'm extremely nervous for this next month of waiting.

Hey everyone! I applied to the Dallas Traditional BSN program.

Here are my stats based on the worksheet:

Nursing Core GPA: 3.536

Pre-req GPA: 3.484

TEAS Overall Score: 96.7

Prior bachelors bump

My total points came out to 62.85 on the worksheet.

My GPAs are definitely below average, but i know my TEAS score was above average. Is anyone else in the same boat or know if this will balance out and hopefully result in admittance? Hoping for the best for all of you!

Girl, you're good. Great score on the TEAs. My total is 60.5, and the advisor told me it was competitive. Anxious! Good luck :)

Wow, great plan! CRNA is a great field. For me, I hope to get my BSN and work with it for some time (still deciding the specialization). Then I plan to get my MSN and work as a family nurse practitioner. My ultimate goal is to become a nurse educator, either for diabetes or stroke. :)
