twu clinical sites???

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

I have recently interviewed with Texas Wesleyan and was informed after the interview that I would be accepted to the program. I was provided with a list of primary clincal sites to rank, and I'm not sure which ones to rank 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.. I would like to stay in the fort worth/dallas area but I was told during the interview that they are really hard to get. I want to get the best clinical experience I can. Could some of the SRNA's at either TWU and/or TCU enlighten me on what they have heard or know about site selection. Thanks.:uhoh3:

Anybody please a little help????

I'm not at a TX clinical site, but I've heard the Harris is quite good. I've heard the same of JPS. I have not worked/lived in the area long enough to know what is the best, but hopefully those two will give you an idea.

These are the 3 best sites. Most of the students who go to cali stay in cali. Alot of autonony. Alot of cases, regionals, lines. A friend of mine who now works in houston who did her clinicals out in california said she actually lost alot of skills her first year because of the restrictions of her first job. The only downside besides the cost of living is very few places in the USA utilizes their CRNAs like you would see in california, so it doesn't give you good feel of how you will actually practice when you graduate.

Thanks a bunch for the info it is greatly appreciated. :)

To those of you that have already attended TWU, which choice did you get from your clinical site rankings?

Did you get your 1st choice, 2nd choice, 5th choice, etc?

Is there anyone out there that did not get into TWU because they didn't rank enough clinical sites on their preference form?

Hi, currently doing the clinical phase ( I'm in Plaza Medical Center) in TWU. I got my first choice. I know majority of my classmates got their first choices also.

Good luck though. Where ever it is you are going, you will have a good training with the school. Congrats to all starting this Fall.

Same here. My first choice was california; its not as competitive as the dallas-fort worth area though. If you don't put down you are willing to go anywhere, its going to be harder for you unless you knocked the interview out the box.

I agree with SIGMA here. Those are excellent sites and I am at TCU. I would stay away from Harris, the coordinators there are very overbearing, don't have much autonomy at all. I would not want it to be my primary site. Hope it helps.

I've heard the same exact thing. You'll be 3 weeks from graduating and they are still in the room the entire time; at least this is what I've been told by student that are there.

Yea exactly what i heard. It's not even so bad that their in the room, but that they are just breathing down your neck the whole time. How are you supposed to think for yourself and make decisions with someone there telling you what to do before you have had a chance to think about it first.
