twu clinical sites???

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

I have recently interviewed with Texas Wesleyan and was informed after the interview that I would be accepted to the program. I was provided with a list of primary clincal sites to rank, and I'm not sure which ones to rank 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.. I would like to stay in the fort worth/dallas area but I was told during the interview that they are really hard to get. I want to get the best clinical experience I can. Could some of the SRNA's at either TWU and/or TCU enlighten me on what they have heard or know about site selection. Thanks.:uhoh3:

I was just accepted to TW and feel I will more than likely have my clinical site in CA. I've heard that the Ca site is very intense with TONS of call hours. Has anyone else heard this? Oh and I look forward to meeting everyone in the fall :)

First of all, congrats on getting in T Dub U. I'm going to cali for clinicals in 5 months and have been told its the best site we have. Alot of autonomy, alot of cases, lines and regionals. Have alot of fun, take the chem class they offer in the summer and besides that.......party, travel and party some more. It ends in late august.:lol2:

I agree with SIGMA here. Those are excellent sites and I am at TCU. I would stay away from Harris, the coordinators there are very overbearing, don't have much autonomy at all. I would not want it to be my primary site. Hope it helps.

I am currently at TWU with a primary site at Harris and have to disagree. The coordinators are by no means overbearing... and yes there is someone in the room, but past the first couple of months have had most of them sit in a chair in the corner saying "this is your case... do what you want to do". First I think you have to earn their trust and demonstrate that you are vigilant and competent, then they will step back and thouroughly expect you to run the show on your own. I heard the same comments before I started, but do not believe them to be true. Harris is a great learning experience with ALL types of cases.
