Two Weeks Unitl D-Day and Scared to Death!

Published

Just wanted to say a quick congrats once again to all those that have already passed NCLEX. To everyone waiting, I feel your pain.

I take boards on July 26th and have another question about Kaplan trainer CD. I just took the first two tests and scored a 69% on both of them. I'm not really sure if this is good or not. What has everyone else been getting or what kind of scores did you get on practice CD's before you took boards and did you pass?

I made a solid B every semester in nursing school. I got a 96% chance of passing using the ATI, anywhere from a 92%-99% chance of passing using Mosby's CAT, and I score in the 70's on Saunders comprehensive review. I am just so worried I'm not prepared enough and would like to know what everyone else is getting. Thanks everyone for reading and be reassured that after I take that darned test you won't have to worry about me asking anymore questions about scores on practice exams (hopefully)!

i just took it. you'll be fine. don't spend the time you have left worrying. gobble up as many practice exams as you can. not kidding. you gotta grow some stamina for all those questions. also, focus on ABC, MASLOW, and PRIORITY.

You'll be fine. I had same grades like you. Haven't heard back from them yet. I find out tomorrow. I feel weird, hoping I do pass. If not...well, I know without a doubt that I tried my best. I really did.

Go in knowing that. It will help.

Good luck. Get some sleep the night before. REALLY important!

Do not worry about the results from the review tests. The important thing is to make sure you understand the reationale.

will not see exactly the same questions on any review books, but only the similiar type of questions.

Thanks for being so supportive. I feel pretty ready as far as knowledge and content. I just got to find a way to get the anxiety level down. I never really had test anxiety in nursing school but now all of the sudden I do. I can promise myself all I want that I'm going to walk in there and be confident, pace myself, and think clearly and rationally about everything, but I know that the minute I sit down I'm going to get anxiety. I even thought about asking my doctor for a little PRN Xaxax, but I've never taken anything like that before and I'm afraid that it will make my thoughts cloudy. I also had a dream that I failed last night.

I think the day before I'll go and get a massage and take a Tylenol PM at around 7:00pm. Oh well thanks again!

I've only scored 60-70% on my review tests and still passed. Don't worry about the scores just understand why you got them wrong and right. It seems like you're preparing very well for this test and I"m sure that you'll do fine.

Hi Jen2! On the Kaplan trainer cd, I never scored above a 71% on the first try. 71% was also my highest on just one test! The lowest was 61%. I went through every rationale on the cd to make sure I understood why I got every one wrong, and why each one was right, as well. That is the key to studying. I had very similar grades as you - I think you are doing well to prepare yourself for the test. I also utilized Saunders and scored between 70-80% on a good day :)

The NCLEX is a very anxiety ridden experience - the preparation/studying for it, the actual test taking portion, and especially the waiting period for your results.

I visited these forums quite frequently before the test, and I would definitely agree with the people who say to take the day off before the test from studying. If you have to study, just go over lab values to make sure you memorized them. You brain needs a breather the day before the test. Please keep us posted!

I suffered from severe test anxiety and took Xanax before all of my big exams, I am too concerned as to wether or not I should take it before I take the NCLEX. I can't remember it making me particularly cloudy headed (STAY AWAY FROM BENEDRYL!) but then again, do I really want to take my chances, I also wonder if I am beyond any kind of help like that anyways....hmmmm
