Two more weeks....

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

two more weeks until my fiance and i move to nc. time is really going by fast now. i think i have the majority of my ducks in a row as far as everything needed from here to start down there. i got my offical offer letter from pcmh in the mail saturday. now it feels real, that i actually do have a job after looking for so long.

so very soon, i'll be a resident of nc. but i hate to hurt feelings though, this gal will always bleed ky blue :paw::D i just hope i can watch some of the football games on fsn south.

now, to find a hotel to stay in. we won't be able to look for a place to live until we get down there :sniff: so it will be me, my cat, my fiance, and his dog in a hotel room until we find a place to rent. though my fiance keeps out hope that we can still buy a place. i seriously doubt it though.

Congrats! I work at PCMH too. What floor will you be on?

Just curious...what's the current starting pay for new nurses at PCMH?

Just curious...what's the current starting pay for new nurses at PCMH?

I think starting pay is around $20/hr. But that may have changed. I have only been there a year but already my pay has gone up a couple of dollars.

Unless they've done some renovations within the past 4 years...Most of the Wainright properties are "rat-traps" or at least I think so.

Except for maybe Holly Glen

I agree. I'm begging you to stay away from Wainright now! I'm sorry I ever mentioned them. They were good to me in college, but now- YUCK. We got keys to 5 places when we were looking. The lights weren't on in any, so we couldn't see a lot of the stuff. The second one had the carpet ripped up (just padding on floor) and smelled musty/moldy. The third made me gag, and it takes a LOT to make me gag. It hadn't been cleaned from the prior tenants, and they had some nasty pets. It reeked of urine, carpets were stained and getting moldy, carpet ripped in several areas (at the door where an animal had obviously been shut in a room and was scratching at the carpet near the door to try and dig out), walls stained. They could have cared less about it when we told them. I would NEVER show someplace that like to a potential tenant- you're going to run them off and make them tell everyone else about it (like I am now :) )

Holly Glen is nice (they're newer, plus close to the hospital), but I think they're expensive, and I don't know about pets.

Yount Mgt. is another good place that I rented through. I don't think they own as much as they used to, but they were great to me. I found mold in my air vents, and they came out to clean them. Once we figured out the problem was worse than expected, they put me up in a furnished apartment while they changed out my air system!

Which is why we are waiting until we actually get there to pick a place. I found a few in the rental guide I was given, but it's from Jan and things change rapidly. One place I was interested had pet friendly in the Jan ad, but now has gone to no pets. My soon to be hubby has hopes that once we actually get there we can find an actual house. I keep telling him it might be two years at minimum for us to get financing because of his lack of credit and my bad credit. He still thinks he can get financed on just his income No one wants to finance what he, by himself can afford even if nothing is wrong with the home.

Oh and right now....STRESS is my name. 4 days until my wedding and we still have things to get, mainly for the cook-out. I also just realized I don't have flowers, aren't I supposed to have flowers?

The good news is at least I now have my NC bank account open and ready to go. I can make hotel reservations now. Now we have to figure out how long we are going to stay in a hotel while searching for a place to live as I think I'll only be able to do things on weekends. With our luck offices close by 430 which is when most of the first week of orientation ends.

Welcome to eastern NC! :)

Hello. I was down visiting Charlotte last week me and the kids stayed at the Residence in it has a kitchen area, and living room area, free internet and free buffet breakfast each morning. The longer you stay they less it is per night and if you have AAA it is discounted.

Have you heard of the NACA program if not please look it up online. Great program I just completed the info session, great interest rate on new home loans and no down payment or closing cost. I know sounds too good to be true but please look into I promise you it will be the best move you ever made.

Best of luck on your move

Also the Residence in take pets

EEK! You're getting married! How exciting! I knew you were engaged but I didn't know it was happening this soon!

You're moving down at a good time. There will be a lot of places open when you're looking, since a lot of the college students have gone home for the summer. Gville is a different monster come the second weekend in August.

It really is! You will quickly learn when Orientation and Open House are and know to not leave your house. You will know when move in weekend is and know to not go out to eat or to Wal Mart or Target. You will know when graduation weekend is and know not to leave your house. And all the sudden, it empties out for about 3 months and it becomes a ghost town, especially if you live closer to campus!

Yep! You learn when that stupid train stops on Arlington Blvd and how to get around Greenville Blvd to avoid people who can't drive over 25mph. I'm still relearning Firetower. I thought they'd be done (since they were already tearing it up when I left two years ago)- BUT NO.
