Two week notice given. Have 8 vacation days not taken and will not be compensated for when I leave. Have two personal days too which I will not be compensated for. The last year lost 5 vacation days because they were denied. HR said thats just business. So wondering should I take my last two days of employment as personal days?

I'm not sure how "personal days" work. Do you arrange them ahead of time, or just call in? What are the rules regarding personal days after you've put in your notice? With what you've said about your employer so far, I'm guessing there's a good chance you won't get paid for them under your current circumstances.

I wouldn't take any time off during those last few weeks of work unless you have written permission to do so. Taking unapproved time off may very well cause the employer to list you as "not eligible for rehire" -- and that's not worth a couple of days off. Getting designated as "not eligible for rehire" could follow you and make it difficult for you to get another job for years.

The personal days are days given to you to take when you have not scheduled a day off. You just call in.

Personal days are not days needing permission.

As much as their policy stinks, I would not call out or anything similar those 2 days. It isn't worth it. You'll be out of there soon enough.

I figured as much -- but that doesn't matter. If you take them, it will make you look bad and may get you designated as "ineligible for rehire" -- and that is not a designation you want.

I ended up doing my remaining two days with one of them being a double shift due to lack of nurses. Scheduler hugged me goodbye. Many coworkers discussed in confidence their intent and interviews they have in the works to leave. I was surprised at the number seeking employment elsewhere. Meanwhile management puts out a little note in nurses station about how great things are.
