TVCC 2013 applicants ADN (Got 21 points?)

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I will be applying to TVCC this fall, and this is the first year for the new max of 21 points. I'm just wondering since there are no offical records, how many people have 21 points? I don't have 21 points pushing hard for 15. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Sady, I missed the El Centro cutoff by one point. I applied to TVCC with 19 points and hope I get in. After comparing the NCLEX pass rates, I hope that I am accepted to TVCC!!!

I also have 19 points. I am excited about this year! I hope to get in !

I applied to the Kaufman ADN program for the Fall semester of 2013. I am still waiting for feedback on the acceptance or regrets. I have completed the required prereqs and some. The director of the program still told me it wouldnt be enough. I currently have 13 points and I have 45 hours in credits! I am currently enrolled in Microbiology, Chemistry, Texas Govt, Human Growth&Dev, and Soph. English. I am an over-achiever and the director had the guts to tell me I could reapply next year! I told him...why would I do that when this is my last semester of school and I'm graduating! Did I mention that these are all BSN courses that I have completed! This program is a waste :\ I'm angry because I did all this work and took the HESI and aced it! 90 in Reading, 86 in Grammar, 82 in Math. YET IT STILL ISNT ENOUGH. So guess what I did.....I contacted UT TYLER...and now I am interested in their program. Want to know why? BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE THE MORE LOGICAL CHOICE! For a person like me! ;) No disrespect to the TVCC FANS -_-

Prhodes92... I'm sorry you're frustrated, but haven't you realized that nursing schools accept applicants on a point system? Not a capability system...

I got a 98 in grammar and vocabulary and A&P, a 94 in math. I have a bachelor's degree from the University of TX @ Austin. I have a 4.0 in my sciences. I still don't have enough points yet. Don't be discouraged. It is what it is. You'll find your place :)

How many points did he say you needed for it to be enough? I also applied to different schools in Houston and in San Antonio because this is bad news. I too have spent a whole semester on BSN classes so to be rejected is almost not worth applying for ADN if I'm almost done with the requirements for BSN. Good luck to you with applying to other schools I think you made a good choice. QUOTE=prhodes92;7078503]I applied to the Kaufman ADN program for the Fall semester of 2013. He said I'd need at least 17 points. I talked to the Nursing Director @ UT Tyler and she said Im eligible to apply, I just need to take my TEAS exam. So that's where I am at the moment. I know that I am still very young but I'm impatient lol and I know that patience is the key but it doesn't pay the bills!!!! And thanks for your comment and advice and good luck to you as well :)

I was just told that 17 points was not good enough

I was just told that 17 points was not good enough

Really? Who told you that?

WOW!!! I think someone was pulling your leg. Or at least I hope that is the case, I can't see 17 points not being enough. That would mean they only accepting people who already have a BA degree. I am taking the HESI again on the 25th to secure me a spot in Houston. If you have all of your classes and can afford to relocate, I suggest you look into it. They don't have this extra class more points crap and if you have your classes and score good on HESI you can get in. Look at what it takes to get in there. I wish I wouldn't of wasted a whole semester trying to get more points here. I had enough to be excepted in Houston now. So, since I've played with TVCC so long I just want to retake it to do even better so I can start nursing school already. This truely sucks if it's true. Good luck to you all, but please do like me and others get a plan B,C, and D!!

OK! So, I had to call the school after these posts about 17 points not being good enough. I was told "they haven't told anyone what the cut off would be because they don't know yet." So, all you hear is just hear-say. They are not for sure what it will take to get in so hold your horses and let's just see how this plays out. We have a little over two more months to worry!

We don’t know what the point cut off will be since the point system is new. 17 points is not bad but I don’t know if it will be enough to get in.

That was the email reponse that I received asking about my points.

What school in Houston are you talking about?
