Turks in NYC?

My husband and I have played with the idea of moving to NYC for some time. Our problem right now is we live in a small city in Upstate NY (where I've lived all my life), but my husband is from Turkey. We recently took a trip to visit some Turkish friends of his, and he simply came to life. I would like to find a neighborhood with lots of Turks about. I know there are many Turkish restaurants and shops in NYC ... is there a neighborhood where we will find a lot of Turks?

I know I have come across a lot of Turks in the Flushing area of Queens. Certainly avoid Astoria because of he high concentration of Greeks (your husband could tell you why i said that).

I found a website that list neighborhoods with the predominant ethnic group. It was too long of a list to look, so I will leave it for you.

If that doesn't help, look up some Turkish American societies and call them. I am sure they would be glad to help.

Hi there! Where in Upstate NY are you guys (PM me if you want)? I'm also there and there are about 4000 other Turkish people here...we might even know your husband!

To find Turkish communities in NYC I would recommend that you go online and search for Turkish Societies/Communities/Organizations...I know there are tons in NYC (we have one here). You can call them up and say that you guys (well, your husband) are Turkish and you're moving to the area and where are there large Turkish communities in the area. You should have any difficulty finding this info.
