Tuition Reimbursement/Loan Forgiveness in Kansas City?

Published

Hello everyone,

I graduated a year ago with a doctorate in a non-nursing/non-science field. I cannot move out of state to pursue a full-time teaching job (family commitments), and part-time teaching is an unstable career. Some semesters I would earn $18k and other semesters I would earn $3k. It really depends on what the schools need, and I have no bargaining chip in the contract process. I left teaching to take a corporate job, and it pays well ($60k). However, the job is devoid of all meaning, and I do not enjoy the work. I have seriously thought about going back to school to get my BSN. A nursing career will offer employment stability that I need so I can start having a family. Also, I am inspired by a nurse practitioner who took care of my mother when she developed rheumatoid arthritis. I graduated with $20k in debt and the thought of taking out another $30k to do a BSN is beyond scary. My question is this: Are there loan forgiveness/tuition reimbursement programs in Missouri or Kansas City that would lessen the burden of going back to school? My husband is currently in school, and the less loans I have to take out, the better!

Thank you for reading my post & I am looking forward to your reply.
