Tweety that is a pretty pricey repair

NJ22 I hope you feel better

Stars glad they did the thoracentesis after all and are going to keep him for more tests.  It may indeed be a gall bladder issue

Work was pretty good, helped a coworker and still had  plenty of time, despite getting a new case myself.  Hoping the same holds true for today

Disappointed that dad did not get the apartment he wanted,  while  he was doing the paperwork it got rented to someone else. So he'll keep looking, he has until  the end of October.  I kinda wish he hadn't told the landlord he wasn't renewing, I did tell him I wouldn't do so until I had the new lease.   But he's pretty determined to  leave I guess

J's allergies are getting better, though mine were pretty bad yesterday.  Hoping they're better today

Will be a bit warmer today, in the mid  70s, might rain some more

Good morning!

Joe, bummer about the dad's apartment.  How are the rents there?  Here rents have gone up to unaffordable rates.  It's a big story.

I'm currently doing an online chat to change the appointment of the refrigerator appointment after the parts arrive.  The scheduled it on a day I'm working.  There doesn't seem to be a way to do it online.

Bowling was fun but it looks like we only might have won one game.  Can't really tell as there is a new bowler without an established handicap.  So it's just a guess.

Came home and gave Slowbro his usual eyedrops and a treat and was getting ready for bed when I noticed a huge amount of blood on the bed.  He seemed totally normal, took his eye drops and treat without any problem and drank some water and had eaten a good supper.  Not be ignored I drank some coffee because it was 11:00 pm and I was already for bed and took him to emergency.  $900 later, blood work, physical exam, ultrasound, X-ray, and urine showed no source of bleeding.  I noticed his gums were nice and pink but I did expect his H&H to be subnormal.  He said for a 14 year old dog his blood work was impressive.  He had no theories and nothing to treat.  His paw had blood on it and he thought maybe somehow it came from his paw that quicks can bleed quite a bit.  I've cut his quit accidentally and know this to be true but not like this.

The other theory is that it was the other dog.  But she is not the delicate one and has never thrown up and is sitting beside me just fine.

There goes my emergency fund.

I got home at 2AM scratching my head.  Did I over react?  Better safe than sorry.  WTH?

Oh well, trying to wake up and get on with it.

Have a great day.

Tweety, even though the bloodwork was "normal," finding blood on the bed is still of concern!!  I don't blame you for heading to the ER.  And then the dogs look at you, "why are we here, Daddy??"  Hope there is no more bleeding, that it was a one-time thing.  //  Hopefully you can change the refrigerator appt.

Joe, too bad about your dad's apartment!  I hope he can locate another one that is to his satisfaction.

Have a good day!

Glad to read that Slo-Bro is okay, but yes, blood can be alarming, especially when our animals can't tell us where it came from. But $900, ouch! And this after getting an appliance repaired. I've always just taken my chances and never purchased an extended warranty. So far, it has worked out.

The skies are overcast again, with smoke, but the weather app says air quality is "moderate." There are a bunch of fires east of here but the wind seems to be keeping much of the smoke over there. I did a bunch of laundry yesterday, and not much else.

I don't know that I'm sophisticated about wine, but I like to try new things. I have very low tolerance for alcohol, though.

Yes, housing here has been overpriced for years. Many blame retirees from California and commuters from Seattle driving up prices. I see fix-it-up shows on TV that talk about how much houses cost and the comparison is nuts. Houses for sale around here are typically on the market for only a week.

I am going to look for some camping stuff today. Now that we've used the trailer a bit, I've have ideas about storage and organization. Hopefully I can find stuff in stores and not need to order on line.

Naturally, I posted my today's post at the end of yesterday's posts. Hoping if I have anything to add, I will post it on the correct day!

Lunchtime for Nannie.

The housing market is cooling down some, but best friend went to look at two houses at an open house and before he could consider it a contract was pending.   He has some friends on the beach whose house sold in five days for 3 million dollars and cost 1 million a few years go.  Nice profit.  There are literally thousands of luxury condos being built around here.  At one point I read 10,000 units.

I never get extended warranties, thinking the cash I save on the warranty would eventually pay for some repairs.  My Toyota currently doesn't have a warranty so fingers crossed.

I did buy a warranty to get a $200 knocked off my fridge and it covers all the appliances in my house.  We'll see if I like it or if I drop it after a while.   Years ago on my Saturn the warranty ran out two week prior to it breaking down.  That's the kind of luck I have.  And way back then it was about a $2000 repair when the gas tank got a whole in. it.  Who ever heard of a gas tank getting a hole two weeks after the warranty expires.  They gave me a deal and charged the warranty $1000 and me $1000 so that was nice.

Inflation is ridiculous.  I literally gasped when I heard the fridge bill and gulped when I heard the vet bill.

I do the same with the dogs and don't have insurance.  I had insurance once and didn't realize SlowBro's policy expired and I just let it lapse. I had one on my late Billy and when he had a tooth abscess they paid $1400 of it.

Both dogs are too old for insurance and I have to use my emergency fund which is dwindling towards zero again.

I DO NOT WANT TO WORK OVERTIME

I'm still baffled at Slow Bro's clean bill of health and good H&H after all that blood.  He vomited again this afternoon while I was at yoga but no blood.  Just his everyday vomiting.  The vet did say he had a non-obstructing mild ileus which explains why he vomits occasionally.  As long has he's eating and pooping there's nothing I can do about that.

The other remote possibility is that it was Waffles but she never vomits and is 100% herself.  I may never know.  At least they are okay.

7 PM and bummed out. I called hubby to see how he was doing, as I hadn't talked to him since early this AM. He said they had "one more test' to do on him, but he doesn't know when it is, or what it is for.  He doesn't know if he will be discharged after the test, but I pray they keep him one more night. I am so tired and I really don't feel like hearing him beyotch on and on about the circumstances. He can (should) get mad at himself, but I don't see that happening.

He was on a tear about how much he hates that hospital. I said Iiked the Dr who has been calling me to keep me updated. He didn't know who that was, and told me that if she calls me again I should tell her that hubby wants his discharge papers signed tonight! (I will do no such thing.) I told him it would be easier if he'd get discharged tomorrow, but he says he wants to get out of there. Personally I am happy that all the things I was worried about have been tested, examined, and they are drawing up a care-plan for after discharge. Not that he'll necessarily be compliant with it...he is his own expert, doncha know.

So, I have nothing else to write except to say: CRAP!

Yup, I bet Mr. NoStars is having some powerful cravings. I'll bet he's changed his mind about inpatient alcohol treatment, too.
