Tweety can understand your ambivalence about this potential new position

Stars that was a nice surprise, hope you get some relief Thurs as well

Hi Ado

Work was pretty good yesterday, had time to help out during the end of the day, although it was bit busier early on

After work was fairly quiet, just did the laundry and exercised

Nothing unusual today, just the usual grocery shopping after work.  Also have to work on a list for the new year, of the things I plan to do or try.   Have been meaning to do that for a while.  If I have a list of things do to I figure it will help motivate me to do them

Going to be a bit cooler today, in the upper 40s I think

Good morning!

My interview went as well as it could.  Three people, my assistant manager, another unit manager and a coworker went around and asked me a total of about 20 questions.  I had to give examples on how I would handle situations or how I handled situations in the past.  The last question "what about this position excites you" was kind of lame.  Next I interview with my manager and another units manager.  My manager is not known to be prompt about getting things done so I'm not holding my breath that it will be anytime soon.  If selected I'll have to take some courses in leadership style and communication, etc.  barf

Routine day off here, will try to find a recipe for chickpeas, mop etc.  Going to see the movie "Conclave" which is getting good reviews.  Best friend wanted to see it and I really didn't.  Seems a bit of an old used premise "pope dies and the drama about selecting a new pope".  But given the good reviews, I'm sure I'll like it.

It is nooooooon-time; I have been awake for 1/2 hour, washed my face and brushed my toofies, and came back to bed to relax with some coffee and my laptop. It is sunny with a few high, thin clouds, and the high will be 69 degrees, with humidity below 50%.

I can't really say what I am going to do today; I have things on my list that I could do, but when I decide, and tell y'all any plans, things end up being different. So! All I can say is the day will unfold one way or the other.

I had purchased one of those very thin blankets with a decorative photo. (This one with a soaring eagle over a wooded mountainside.) It is kind of like a baby-blanket, only larger. The other night I put it over the comforter and Momo burrowed into it, moving it around, rearranging it with her nose and her head-tosses.  Last night when I was folding it, intending to put it away, and Momo was looking at it intently. She got excited and got up on her hind legs and was doing little jumps up to bump it with her nose. As I placed it under the cover at the foot of the bed where she sleeps, she ran down to it, wagging her tail. She REALLY likes to sleep on it, so I guess it is now HER "blankie." It is amazing to me that she has, after a year with me, really started coming out of her shell and acting like a happy, playful, relaxed dog. I love it, she is so cute when she tosses her little blue rubber 'dog' toy down beside me, and I squeak it and put it on my raised knees....she does a feinting charge at it and makes a little sound in her throat. I say "Get it!" and she jumps and uses her front legs to make it fall off my knee. She likes me to throw it (well, we're on the bed, so it can't be thrown far) and then she pounces on it and starts chewing it, then moves around to chew it in another spot, with great enthusiasm. An entirely different dog in some ways.

Okay, it is time to get dressed and go do the Nannie-getting-up-thing, which we all know thrills me beyond belief, but it is what it is. So, maybe laydah, y'all------

Hello all!

I have kept up with reading your posts, but we were gone from Friday till yesterday, at a bluegrass festival in Carlsbad.  It was great to meet up and gab with old friends, and to make new friends, PLUS we got to jam!  I brought some foods so we could mainly eat there, and we promptly discovered their Food Court, featuring about ten vendors of all kinds of foods, plus a coffee shop, plus a miniature donut shop.  So we used the snacks less than I thought we would, but hey, at least they were there.

We took the little dog-ling with us, and he was good as gold, curled up in his crate or out on a towel in front of the crate.  We were in and out all day and into the evening, attending jams or getting food.  Jams went long into the night, but the temperatures really dropped after the sun went down -- down into the 40's.  We have figured out that if the temp is much below 62, our hands just get too cold to play (especially Dh, after having Guillain-Barre about 14 years ago).  We had brought clothes for cold weather, so we bundled up and jammed until 10 or 11 each night.

Dh got to play his bass in a jam -- enough to get a blister!  So he was happy, and after getting the blister, switched to banjo or mandolin.  I attended a Girls' Jam on Sunday.  Since none of us knew each other, there was a lot of chatting in-between songs, which slowed the jam progress (Oh well!).  Later we jammed with a guy playing an accordion and another man who played harmonica (both pretty unusual for bluegrass jams, especially the accordion).  I heard a musician from the Foo Fighters was there, jamming.  I wouldn't have known him, so yeah, I didn't see him!

We met and jammed with a banjo-player who has written several guide books on where to find the best beers in Munich!  LOL!  He and dh had a good time talking banjos.

Oh, and I was BAD, but it was SO GOOD!  We ate at a Ruby's diner, across the street from the motel where the festival was held (secure a room in the motel or stay nearby and drive in for the day, to jam on the large grassy areas).  And they had WONDERFUL pumpkin milkshakes!  Dh and I split one!

Yesterday we packed up and checked out and drove home.  After unpacking, I HAD to take a nap!  I also slept well last night (so did dh), so I guess we were tired, LOL!

Hope you all have a good day and evening!  (hope you hear about your interview soon, Tweety)

Took Nannie out in the car to go donate some stuff.....got two bags delivered to the battered women's shelter store. Then drove around for over 40 minutes trying to locate the humane society animal shelter where I want to go to donate old blankets, but even though I've been there before, I could not locate it at all. So when I came home I looked in the phone book, but no listing for humane society shelter or animal shelter or whatever you can think of that might fall under that category.....got a POST OFFICE BOX #, but that doesn't help at all!!  I got on line here and I have to say MAPQUEST is USELESS! They might put a red spot where you want to go BUT none of any of the  street names are printed on the map, just a bunch of lines, so THAT is worse than useless. I went to Google.maps and I did finally find one listed on a Wilshire SW, but I dunno, I already gave up for today. Maybe by Thursday I can find SOMEONE who can tell me where the heck it is! Very frustrating!

But at last Nannie got to ride around and proclaim amazement about the number of cars on the roads. Yup, this was a small city when I moved here, but it has really had a population explosion. Same thing happened when I moved to Nashville, and then again when I moved to Asheville. I have a feeling that it isn't really ME that is the jinx and causing more and more people to move wherever I move, but since it has happened in 3 different places that were small cities (yes, Nashville used to be a much smaller city in 1976). Oh well, oh well, oh well.

I just told Nannie that her son is mowing the lawn, and less than a minute later she told me there was 'some man' out there riding 'that thing' and making it dusty out there, and he is riding it BACKWARDS.

OMG. I think I will go upstairs and pop a pizza in the oven so I don't have to listen to Nannie being confused so many times, so frequently, YAAAAARRRGGGHHH!

Glad you had a good time with lots of music, dianah!

I'm also glad that Momo is feeling at home and comfortable. Hope she enjoys her blankie. It sounds a lot like one my dad was given the Christmas he was at the nursing home (the year my mom died in October). His was a nice soft fleece and, yes, the pets do seem to like those. We have a blanket that is usually folded at the foot of the bed that Binx the cat has appropriated as his place for napping. It's a nice red color and goes well with the black cat. 😉

Not much going on here. I did notice the engine light came on in the convertible so I'll ask Hubs to take a look.

This is the season when Twin A works mostly evenings since the zoo has their drive-through lights. Patrons can also toast marshmallows and make s'mores around fires. They had been doing wood fires but this year are using propane instead, which disappoints Twin A a little. I think he liked the woodsmoke smell and the feel of being by the fire. Apparently the proceeds from the lights/activities are a not-insignificant portion of the zoo's revenue for the year. In any case, Twin A enjoys these evenings.
