Tweety I have that same problem, I always renew library books at least once or twice

NJ22 hope your allergies settle down

Stars it could be naltexone or acamprosate

Ado hope your dh feels better

Dianah I laid low most of yesterday too

Was a quiet Memorial Day for me.  Went out bird watching, glad I went earlier than usual, lots of people out, even fairly early.  Met J for lunch.  That was pretty much  it for me.  Funny, I try to get things done so I have free time, but I often find when I  have nothing to do I don't find it as enjoyable as I had expected

Hoping things won't be crazy when I get back to work.  Thankfully the company closed for the holiday so I'm thinking that nothing should have come in over the long weekend

Will be in the upper 80s  today, might have storms in the afternoon

Good morning Joe!

Joe, hope you have a good day.  I find myself sometimes in the same situation with stuff done and "what to do now" thing going on.  Kind of felt like that last night and was missing having a book to read so I wound up watching Instagram Reels (like Tik Tok but for Instagram) and wasting time.

J22, never had poutine.  I bet with all the Canadian snowbirds here there has to be a place that sells it here.  I've always been curious.

Dianah, I had to look up what NAMM is, and gather it's the music merchants thing.  Looks like a big deal.  Your husband still should get seen if it's painful enough that he can't eat.  He could have gingivitis that's treatable with a simple rinse.  The pasta sounds good.

Stars those ads can be annoying.  I don't get many of them, so I must have a blocker on my iMac.  Medical detox is usually seven days or longer in a detox center and a med surg unit isn't the place unless they have severe symptoms and can't be discharged.  Discharging an alcoholic to their own devices usually doesn't work well either.  Sounds like his withdrawal symptoms weren't all that severe to warrant staying in the hospital.  All the best.

Didn't do much yesterday but managed to clean the bathrooms, do a couple loads of laundry, and go to the gym.   About to take a walk for an hour and go to hot yoga.  Later best friend and I are going to see Downton Abby in the theaters and go to vegan Vietnamese restaurant nearby.

Hey, howdy, hello!

It is the Naltexone they prescribed hubby. He isn't going to start it until after his appt on Thursday. The doc at the hospital had told him he was going to have to taper the alcohol consumed first. Hubby will be  -?- starting some plan or program, but he won't know until Thursday. We didn't get to pick up the med until this afternoon, but by then hubby had gotten the shakes so bad, he went to the ABC store to pick up some little, small bottles of whatever (tequila or vodka) to calm the shakes. But from what I read on-line you aren't supposed to be actively drinking when you begin the med. I guess he and the doc will draw up some kind of concrete plan. The doc in the hospital told him that if he tried to do this cold-turkey, alone, he could die, because of all his other co-morbidities, so I believe he is motivated to get shed of this addiction... [*fingers crossed*] I don't understand why they didn't put him in a rehab program, but maybe his insurance wouldn't cover it? I hope he will do AA, anyway. We'll see how it goes--------

I am almost at the end of the last book of the Outlander series. Oh NO! What will I read next? The author has other books, and she writes really well. I may get a couple of her other titles/series, but I may get some other author's paperbacks that are newly out now. We'll see.

Went to get my haircut at 2 PM and the woman told me that my appt wasn't until 3:30. I know she'd told me 2 PM when I talked to her on the phone on Friday, but didn't say anything. I just went to pick up hubby's med, and MORE Nannie's #6 pads?, then came home and looked up Naltexone. Then when I got back to the shop at 3:15, she said, "I'm sorry I sent you away when you were here earlier: it turns out my 2 o'clock never showed up." I wanted to tell her that *I* was her 2 PM appt, but I didn't. Don't want to antagonize a woman with scissors in her hand!?

The baseball game doesn't start until 9:30 or 9:40 tonight. Nannie stayed up until 11 o'clock last night. GADS! I hope she gets tired before the end of the game.

Her new favorite show is on: Family Feud. The only thing wrong with this is she can't distinguish a lot of the questions and answers and we have to repeat them over the sound of the audience cheering and laughing. She sure likes Steve Harvey, though. And just as many not-so-complimentary remarks about the contestants.

Well, Nannie keeps expecting hubby should start feeling and acting better now that he's come home from the hospital. Oh, yeah, he's had a miraculous cure in the past 2 days, sure enough. She doesn't know about the liquor, so.... I tell her that his lung problems are chronic and progressive; some days are good, some days not so much. Well, what else can ya say? [sigh]

Well, this day didn’t go as planned. I got up early to go for my procedure, hoping to be done and back to work by the afternoon. I get there at 800, and was informed I would be there at least until 1. , just for a cardio version. But then, they told me I would have to reschedule because Dr was sick. My choice to stay until 1 and someone could probably do my case. And maybe I would be done by 5. And still stay npo. I chose to leave and reschedule because both dh and I were missing work. Mind you, we drove 2 hours each way. The scheduler calls me after we stopped for breakfast, and lo and behold my COVID test from Sunday was positive. So procedure has to wait at least 10 more days. After I exposed the procedure people and the restaurant staff.  I call my boss and I am off for

the test of the week. And dh is worried he is Going recatch COVID a week after having it and will need to re isolate . That is not the case, but he doesn’t believe me.

I took the dog for a long walk to blow off steam, and did some watering in the green house. I’m cooking short ribs in the pressure cooker.
I hope everyone’s day has gone better than mine.

J22, I'm not really surprised your covid test was positive, given that your husband had it and the symptoms you had soon thereafter.  But I'm still sorry.  That sucks big time about the having to reschedule your procedure.

Stars, hope your husband follows a good program.  For some reason here as well people are rarely sent to detox straight from the hospital.

Downton Abby was a good movie.  I love the characters and love catching up with them.  Had a nice dinner afterwards.  Got my book today and have something to read.

My doctor texted me that he sent my scripts to my work pharmacy.  Annoying because I could have gotten the scripts today but he sent them after 5:00 and they are closed.  I don't need them but am going to miss the convenience.  Oh well, no sense whining about things I can't control.

nursej22, sorry to read about the Covid being positive, AND about having to reschedule the cardioversion, after driving for 2 hr to get there!  Sounds like you got more information, though, to be able to better plan for next time (you know you will be there for a few hours!).  Hope you don't get any bad symptoms.

No Stars, the presence of "the shakes" might be something your dh wants to talk with his MD about, before he takes the med and goes on this new treatment plan.  MD may reconsider doing this drying-out as an inpatient??  Hope you can find a new series to start reading.

Had a nice Zoom meeting with the ds's and dil.

Thanks for the movie review, Tweety.  I want to see it!

Have a good evening!
