Good morning!
Joe hope you have a good day.
TMB, there's an article on NPR about rural Alaska's dilapidated school. Of course our newly consfirmed education secretary's job is to dismantle that department.
I was confused and it's today the roofers are supposed to come. They aren't here yet but supposedly have to get some supplies before they come. I'm only scheduled on day and I know they won't finish in one day. The guys doing the gutter are halfway done and no word when they will be back to finish. I will be soooo glad when it's finished.
I'm talking to the guy the did the inside of the garage to do some more work on the house but he takes forever to answer texts. The last text was "are you free today and do you have paint". My answer was yes and ghosted since then.
Otherwise going to do some housework. Went to a meeting at work this morning and was hoping to get some labs drawn for my physical next week but the order wasn't in so I went to the Asian market and before eating I checked to see if the labs were in and when I was eating breakfast got a text the labs were in but of course they are fasting. I'll get them tomorrow. No big deal.
I'm trying to not let the little things get to me. Like opening the box for my new chandelier and finding missing parts. It seems to cross the street I have to go around the block first. (And no Stars, I'd rather not have Nannie problems)
Have a good day.
Nannie's horror-scope today said "Sometimes you end up in an experience where you don't know what you are doing."
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Nailed it right on the head!
So, here it is Tuesday noontime, and I will have to get dressed and do the 'morning' routine with 'the old lady'.
I had an email from my cousin who I have not heard from in at least 12 years. She was in a bad car accident MANY years ago and is disabled, but I don't know how. She said "PLEASE answer my email" so I did. You know how I love to go on and on....but the 'nutshell' I wrote back was long enough, but only concerning my move down here w/ hubby, and his subsequent death. She has never said HOW she is disabled, so I'm hoping to hear about that, y'know, being that I am a retired nurse, and that she has been disabled for a LOT of years.
Anywayzzzzz, Nannie was up three times last night bumping around in the den with her rollator....in the dark, with no reason she could give WHY she got up, WHY she didn't at LEAST turn on a light! Every time I put her back to bed and tell her to STAY THERE, she giggles like it is fun and games and tells me how 'cute' I am .... ....yes, really. 🙄
Got to get moving now.....more later!
Hi. Overcast and cool here. I went looking for clothes for my trip because my jeans are pretty stained and I wanted something that would pack down better. I got some hiking pants. I looked for a cross body bag, but am going with dh to costco soon to see what they have.
The stores I was in were so empty, I suppose because cross border traffic is way down. If this continues, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2 big department stores finally close, along with a bunch of restaurants.
I got a reminder that I have a dentist appointment next week. I suppose I will get another tsk tsk about how thin the enamel on my front teeth is, which I've been hearing for about 40 years. Nothing I can do about it. If and when my incisors break, I will deal with it.
I got a weird message from my cardiologist that said I experienced an episode of atrial tachycardia, for a few seconds, at a rate of 70 beats per minute. Huh? I suppose it some sort of typo, I see them in May and perhaps I will remember to ask.
My oldest sis called yesterday, the one that is getting immune therapy for her lung cancer. She is having diarrhea, the oncologist wants to give her a course of prednisone, and she is resisting. Yes, it's strong, yes it has serious long term side effects, but I'm sure he wouldn't put her on it long term. She only weighs 97 (up from 92) pounds and can't afford to lose more weight. But she is sure it is poison, because somebody somewhere sometime took it and died.
I said about twenty times, it's like chemo, they wouldn't give it to you if they didn't think it would help, they would monitor, and taper off when possible. I hope she changes her mind. She is more concerned about her septic tank.
dh sounds like he is ready to leave for costco, off we go.
j22~ Good luck with the shopping! // Tell your sister that my mother was on Prednisone for 2+ years because of temporal arteritis (sp?) ....the doc checked her ....?something-or-other-level, periodically, and adjusted the dose of the Prednisone if needed. That was when she was in her early 80's and she lived until she was 93. She took it because a friend of hers REFUSED to take it for the same thing and that friend went blind! My mother said she liked to read too much to tolerate going blind. And I didn't want to take Celecoxib because a patient of mine took it and had a heart attack and then had to have part of her bowels removed and had a colostomy (can't remember why). Anyway, my doc talked me into trying it for my arthritis and it has been a game changer for those symptoms. I am still on it, and as far as I know, still pretty darn healthy. EVERY person's body reacts differently and 'medicine' is different from DRUGS because you are monitored. I'm sure you have already told her all that, but go ahead and tell her about my mom, if she'll listen to you!
Uh, did somebody say something about my day off tomorrow? Why YES, yes they did! My SiL just called and said the weather (rain, etc) is supposed to be "very bad" tomorrow. I haven't heard the weather report yet, but I think there are thunderstorms {"and lightning, very very frightening to meeeee, to me."} <[ by Queen] -------------SOOOOO, the downlow of the upshot is that SiL will not be getting up early to take Nannie to daycare, and will put it off until Friday. See what happens? I blinked once and my day off was GONE! Actually, if the weather is going to be bad, I'd just as soon not have to get out in the rain and rush-hour traffic to go pick Nannie up to bring her home, so at least there's that. Please permit me a small *sigh*.
Welp, Nannie is sleeping in her chair right now and I am being VEWY, VEWY QUIET! Did you know that a FUDD can be qwieter than a wascally wabbit? So *I* am "doing a Fudd". 😁
Prednisone is a wonderful drug. I took it for neck pain after trying many things like massage, PT and acupuncture. The prednisone took care of it straightaway.
The stucco workers were a no call no show.
Had a nice conversation with my niece who seems to be in a good place with her family. Both her kids had surgery recently and her severely ADD child seems to be on the right regimen and is thriving.
Heading to yoga. The permanently canceled a 4:30 class due to low attendance. I saw it coming as there were usually only about four of us there. I will probably go to a 9AM class instead but couldn't make it today.
I went to work for a meeting and I noticed on the portal that the secretary punched me in for 45 minutes. Plus I did some online courses and am all caught up. I was able to get IT to get me on my home iMac which was easy once I was lead the right direction.
I saw the eagles and eaglets on a Facebook post!
The wind is very strong right now. I went to the grocery after work (yes, I should have done it 2 days ago -- I'm a procrastinator). Anyway, as I was returning my cart to the store a woman was standing next to her car, using a cane ans something told me she didn't really have her balance in the high wind. I asked if she was alright and she said no, so I caught her before she could fall. I made sure she got into the store OK and admonished her to let them help her when she left. 😟
Hoping the weather doesn't get too severe...

Stars that was good that you had time to throw all of that old stuff out
Work was not bad, despite having someone off and having been off on Friday. Whole bunch of emails and voicemails but otherwise not bad. Had time to start laundry before lunch. After work stayed in and exercised
Today shouldn't be bad at work, unless the coworker who is off gets a bunch of work. Or I do. After work will do the usual grocery shopping
Going to rain most of today, will get up to the low 50s. Think the Winter weather is finally past
