Good morning!

J22, "atmospheric river" is a new term to me.  Who new.  I did read that there were worries about floods.

sirI, glad the appointments went well.

Stars, glad that Nannie is feeling better.

Ado, good luck with the new job.

Horrible insomnia again.  The Trazadone, which granted is a low dose, isn't helping a bit and seems even worse.  I slept only three hours and got so tired of not sleeping I just got up.  I'm sure to take a nap and be tired today.  Bleh...story of my life.

Bowling team was victorious last night and we're still in first place.  w00t

Lots of boring chores to do since I wasn't feeling good my first couple of days off.  Too tired to schedule a yoga class because I might be taking a nap then.

I started watching the new Vikings series on Netflix.  Took me a few years to watch the original series.  Looks to be good.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Tweety hope you get better sleep tonight

sirI we also wear masks at our in person services

NJ22 hope no flooding occurs

Ado glad the new position seems good, at least so far

Stars glad Nannie had only minor injuries

Woke up with a headache, was kinda tired too.  Feeling better now

Pretty good day at work, got a new case but got everything done and what I had scheduled to do as well.  Hoping the rest of the week will be fairly normal.

Exercised after work but decided to skip Bible study.  My interest has been decreasing for months, and one of our more irritable and rant prone members has been getting on my nerves.

Have emailed the minister about setting up a evangelism committee, since we don't have one and have been losing members.  Hopefully I'll get other people interested and won't have to take this on all by myself.

It's Fat Tuesday so I'm taking a break from my diet until tomorrow.  Should be a quiet evening.

Will be in the 50s today and tomorrow.  Temps are warm enough that  I might be able to start doing bird watching again

Good morning. I finally got my MRI, but with my luck, it will probably not show anything. dh went to the dentist because of a broken tooth. He waited a month for this appointment and then the receptionist called yesterday and was going to change from seeing the dentist to a cleaning appointment. She couldn't  reach dh, so she wanted me to okay the change. Nope. I told her she had to talk to him. She seemed to think I had some special, magic way to reach him but I only have a phone number just like her. He did call and talk to her and kept his 8 am appointment. He was worried that he'd be referred for another implant ($$$$$) but the plan is a root canal and crown ($$).

The weather is overcast and mild. We have not gotten much rain, but south of here, in Seattle and Olympia, got a couple of inches.

Glad that Nannie is mostly intact. Stars, you know you shouldn't be helping anyone off the floor! Maybe your area is different, but the EMTs will come to homes and get people off the floor free of charge. When my FIL was on hospice, he kept falling out of bed, and the EMTs were great.

Tweety, ugh, your sleep patterns are really messed up. Maybe trazodone is not the right med. I wish I could wave my magic wand and fix it for you!

Oh, Fat Tuesday! That reminds me of New Orleans and how much we enjoyed it. I don't know how much it is celebrated around here. A former co-worker who was from Louisiana used to bring a king cake to share.

Ado, yup, my family would expect garlic bread with any kind of pasta, but especially spaghetti . My Hello Fresh is supposed to come on Saturday. I have my fingers crossed that dh will like it. Our tastes have gone in different directions in the past few years.

sirI, you sound super busy! But your music ministry must be so rewarding, much like Joe and Dianah.

Take care, all.

Good Afternoon!

Welp, I did it again...stayed up until 2:35 AM reading, tsk, tsk! But I did sleep really well and didn't get up until about 11 AM. I take 1 mg of Xanax and some Magnesium for sleep which works pretty good.

Tweety, I really wish your insomnia would just magically leave! I have had insomnia off and on almost forever! Insomnia is a BEAR! When I was a kid, I had emotional crying jags (Mom said I would be 'inconsolable') and I remember my mother giving me an aspirin and a teaspoon of "8029" which was the prescription # of our family cough syrup prescription; it had codeine in it. And when I was but a wee babe, I used to get paragoric for colic. It's a wonder I didn't turn into a junkie of some kind, early on! But I have no problem taking meds to sleep; not sleeping well makes me SOOOOO irritable! // Hooray for the bowling champs! Your team certainly hits all the highs and lows of scoring, doesn't it?! //We don't have any of the "+" channels. Hope you enjoy The Vikings!

Joe, it makes me glad to 'hear' you are doing well with your new job. You sound a LOT more relaxed about your work these days. // I don't blame you a bit for dropping out of the Bible-study. Someone in a class who was like you described would certainly be tedious.      // Huh, Fat Tuesday? It never even occurred to me that we were getting into Lent, etc. I am disconnected from so many things; what is marked on our calendar are the days each of us gets our SS check, and if there are any medical appointments. Such an exciting life.

j22, There's GOTTA be something show up on your MRI so you can get it taken care of and say 'good riddance' to the leg pain that has been plaguing you for so long! // I don't think subscribing to a meal-delivery plan. Nannie pretty much will eat anything I eat, but, now, hubby is another story altogether. I don't know how he keeps his blood-sugars and A-1 (Is that not a steak sauce? I believe I have it wrong...) well within normal limits, with the way he eats and what he eats. And, of course the 'secret' drinking. He keeps those little 'airline bottles' in Nannie's car, then goes out in the evening 'to see if he left the car keys in the car.' HUH! Like I don't know, right? At least he has been drinking a little less, I suppose, since he has not been staggering drunk like he was those times when he fell, a while back. Sometimes he gets loud and teases Nannie. I don't think she realizes he is drunk, but my antennae for his drinking react like crazy. // And, yeah, I know I shouldn't have helped Nannie off the floor, but she could actually help some, so I didn't strain myself. I hope she doesn't return to those days of hitting the floor frequently as she used to. I know EMT's are good for hauling folks off the floor; I have had to call them on a few PDN patients back in the day. Hubby would just as soon pack her off to the hospital, and pray she gets placed. Although, she was in the ER and then a nsg home once for about 6 weeks (?) The problem of $$$$ would still be the same as before, when we tried to get her in on Medicaid, and we were so overwhelmed with the paper-work, and it turned out she wasn't qualified. ACH!

Ado, Hope you can get a better work situation going. If I was much younger I wouldn't mind trying the travel-nurse thing. As it was, they didn't have that way back when, so I became a FLOAT. I liked not being on the same floor or unit all the time, it was a relief to me! But when I worked LTC, the assignment was way too much, having to do everything for 26-32 patients....I HATED floating. It was kind of like with now Tweety has to wear 8 "hats" at the same time. One person can not and should not be expected to do the work of so many. Getting rid of the Unit Secretaries was a very BAD decision on the part of Admin.'s, IMHO. Habitual understaffing is a major SIN in healthcare, as we all well know!

sirI, I didn't know you had/have a music ministry. How cool! Been doing it a long time?

amoLu and BCg, Greetings, and I hope to read you later.....

It is sunny and in the low 60's, going to get warmer at the end of the week. The neighbor and his step-son who are supposed to clear up all the logs and branches, came over to look at the tangled pile of used-to-be-a-tree, and hubby thinks they are now wondering the best way how to attack the massive trunk, which was felled in one piece.( I say: a piece at a time.) I suggested to hubby that they at least start with the smaller logs and branches, and he said of course they would. Our question is WHEN? The guy teaches classes and is a supervisor ... something to do with building roadways (DOT kind of stuff), and his step son is in school (college) so getting their schedules to mesh may be a problem. But oh well! We'll see what we see when we see it! Que-sera-sera.

Brief siesta time going on, and soon hubby will sit up and say, "Well, do you girls know what you want for supper?" To his disgust, our answer is usually, "We don't care. Where do YOU want to go get something?" I also just hate thinking about meals all the time, which is pretty much the reason I quit cooking. I used to say to hubby, "Just tell me what you want and I'll fix it..." thinking that would make it easier. Ha, right. I'd just as soon just do grazing all day, pick up and eat what I feel like, when I feel like it...but that's not helpful for hubby and Nannie.

For a little perspective on all my griping, at least we aren't war refugees hiding in a subway. station hungry and tired and scared.

Evening all! It's been a while since I last checked in. I learned something new today. Apparently asking people if they've had their fasnacht for Shrove Tuesday will get you a lot of confused looks. It is apparently quite isolated to my little area of the world. This includes people who grew up and still live within 50 miles of me...

Well don't just say it and don't tell us what it means.

*confused look*

Think of it as donut's cousin, but usually made with potatoes in the dough and fried in real lard. No crazy toppings either! Plain or maybe a dusting of either powdered or granulated sugar. From the days when Lent meant giving up lard. This was how they used it all up.

Gotcha.  Who knew?

I have heard of "paczki day" from a friend that is of Polish decent.  They actually sell them here because a lot of people immigrate from Michigan where it's popular with the Polish descendants.
