Good morning!
Stars, hopefully your husband's forgetfulness isn't an ominous sign of things to come. You have enough on your plate, no wonder your GI system is acting up.
J22, hope Angus is feeling okay. When my late Ellie was in heart failure she was on three meds, but I was to bring her in when her respirations were above 32 I think.
Ado, nice of the night nurse to send you home.
I got up at the usual 6AM to feed the dogs and decided I wasn't done sleeping and laid back down and slept another whopping 3 hours. I got up thinking it was about 7AM and it was 9AM. Felt good though.
Eye exam went well and my eyes are healthy. They are now using a machine to take a deep picture of the back of the eye instead of dilation. It wasn't covered by my insurance but made for a quick visit and easy to drive in the sun afterwards. They still do the dilation if you don't want to pay the $35. I think I'm going to pass on getting new glasses as the prescription he said didn't change that much.
I'm meeting my niece and her family for a late lunch. Her husband works from home but can't make it until 2pm. There's always a bit awkwardness because she's estranged from her mother, my sister, and I have a relationship with both of them.
Tweety, my eye doctor offered the same thing -- pictures instead of dilation for about $35. I opted for it, then the assistant realized I wasn't a candidate because of the lasered retina?
Sorry about the awkwardness of interactions with your niece, but I think it's good that you maintain the relationships.
Had my alarm clock set for 10 AM so I can have a long enough time to wake up before I have to get Nannie up. Her appt isn't until 1 PM, but right now she doesn't even know she is going to go out in the car. I found out that telling her the day before any appt is giving her more time to fret, so I don't say anything until we are about to set out.
Meanwhile, I will pay some bills to drop off at the post office.
Hubby had a fall in the kitchen last night. He was going to nuke a piece of pizza, and dropped a couple of black olive slices -- and says that when he bent over to pick them off and "I got dizzy" and that's when he fell over. He claims he only took 1/2 of a 1 mg Xanax, but that and the vodka apparently provoked unsteadiness. Hmm. Right, okay.
We lost the ballgame last night, and there is another game tonight.
Good morning, (barely).
It's a bit cooler today and overcast. I called the vet again today, because they never called back yesterday. The vet had said they could do radiographs and then treat the dog, but that doesn't work if they don't answer the phone. He seems worse today, his belly is quite swollen, so I stayed on hold today. I am taking him this afternoon. Of course, an urgent visit is an additional charge. I could go to the emergency vet, but they wouldn't have his records of his past echo. I am trying to prepare for the worst.
I went on a short bike ride to distract myself, which felt good, and then I felt guilty. Tonight, we are meeting the fam to celebrate the youngest grandson's 12th birthday. I will give him some cash. I was supposed to go to a meeting for organizing the gardening booth at the fair, but I'm going to the vet instead.
I've had scans done of my retinas, but only after those nasty drops. My old PCP labeled me a "pre-diabetic" even though I didn't meet criteria, so I have to have the full meal deal when it comes to eye exams. She also labeled me as hypothyroid, even though my labs are normal.
Oh, Annie, I'm sorry you have to work a night shift.
Tweety, you are a good person to be able to separate your sister from your niece. It's good you can keep in touch with both. I am glad that my dh is starting to reconnect with his brother after many years.
Someone picked up the first half of tonight's shift so I'll be going in at 0100.
Hubs and I had a good conversation with our niece, who is going to assume guardianship of stepson. She is/has been a social worker and has contacts that should help. I'm in awe that she's willing to take it on.
We made teriyaki chicken kabobs for dinner. I threaded onion and peppers with the chicken. The peppers were from our garden. We also had green beans from our garden and a sliced tomato from our garden!
Long day. thank goodness it is over. Our baseball game was rained out and postponed, so I put Nannie to bed at 9:30 PM. I'm going to bed shortly. Praying that hubby doesn't fall again ... he has gone up to the kitchen to have a snack. I sometimes watch him like a hawk when he goes up or down the stairs, but lately I have NOT been watching and waiting for the mis-stepping and concurrent fall. It can be intensely nerve-racking, aqnd makes my stomach knot up in a tight little ball. He has no clue how traumatizing it is to me when I see him wobbling and reeling.
I will be more relaxed once he gets into his bed.
G'night~

Tweety good to hear you'll be off for 3 days
Stars that is odd that he would ask that question
NJ22 hope you can get him in soon for that echo
Ado good that you didn't have to work
Was a fairly quiet day at work yesterday, no new cases, no major technical issues. Today might be quieter if that trend keeps up
Rest of the day was pretty quiet too. Went and got a father's day card for dad and exercised. Went to the library and got the latest book club book
Tonight the book club will be meeting to discuss the previous book
Another oddly cool day, in the upper 60s, with rain
