Good morning!
Joe, sorry about the weight gain. Could be just a moment in time but too much cookies and cakes don't help. LOL There are times I weigh one thing one day and four pounds more or less the next.
Dianah, I know you have sleep issues sometimes so a good night's sleep is a blessing.
Ado, I forget, what was your son do that he calls you at 11pm about this stuff? When we discharge a patient to the nursing home they stay in their room (or their ER room) until they are picked up. We do get a lot of homeless people and they are not allowed to linger, they are given a bus pass and or given a taxi to a homeless shelter. You come from the streets it's back to the street. That's why I like being just a little old floor nurse and not be on call with stuff that's not my circus and not my monkeys.
I talked to my doctor yesterday because I had a bad day after the course of antibiotics and she said she really wanted to to see GI and get my colonoscopy done. Um...just had that done and it was clean but for one polyp. Guess she didn't have my records in front of her and I can't expect her to know every detail. Anyway, just going to let it be and get more antibiotics later in the week. If after that then I'll have to have a GI consult and if he wants another colonoscopy I will refuse. LOL
I really hate people right now. I started listening to a course on Insight Times about judging others.
Getting a routine eye exam today and not planning on buying new glasses unless he says I need them.
Anyway, here's hoping for good days for us.
Was awakened at 8 AM 😴 = 😳 by Tinker stepping on my chest and licking my face. Can't say it's my favorite way of waking up, but she gets her point across! So she was kind enough to wait while I peed and got dressed, and then I took her out and staggered around the yard because I'd not yet had coffee and my pills were only taken just before I went out with her, so they hadn't had time to take effect.
It's supposed to get up to 94 today.....better than the 102 we reached yesterday afternoon. BUT, the humidity is already a suffocating 88% so I was soon dripping sweat and really wanted to get back inside to the AC and dry off! And to rest the twinge in my hips! When we came back in, I fed Tinker her breakfast, then she made two separate trips down and upstairs to bring up two toys to sleep with them at the foot of the bed. Awww, how sweet!
Now I am collapsed against the pillows, having coffee. I believe I will try to doze a while longer. BiL is coming over around 1:30 PM to sit with Nannie as, hey, Tweety, I also have a routine eye exam this afternoon! I don't expect any changes, either. He mentioned my right eye had the starting of a cataract, and I sort of can tell there is a slight difference in that eye. I guess I ought to schedule time to have it removed, but it's going to take a bit of doing to arrange the day and time. I would imagine I'll have to have one of the iL's take me over and back....... and do I have to take it easy afterwards? Like, I mean, no bending over and no lifting? I dunno, but I suspect someone would have to fill in with Nannie for a little while. Moot point right now, though, as it isn't being done today. But I remember the days when a person had to have the cataracts removed at the hospital, and afterwards required an overnight stay, to rest in a reclining position with heavy sand-filled pillows placed on each side of the head to keep it still. Man, that was a LONG time ago, like in the early 1970's! How things have changed!
Tweety, I hope your "fun" with the antibiotics.....? side effects, or ? just not making an impression on your lower tract ? Anyway, I hope it all resolves soon. I may take my magic wand (because I actually DO have one) and go out in the backyard and cast a long-distance spell in your direction, hoping MAYBE that might help some!
Joe, I haven't actually gained weight, but I'd better watch it, because I have been eating more than I had been and I DO NOT want to put any weight back on!
Okay, it is 9:10 AM and I am going to lay my head back and close my eyes for a while, because I don't have to leave here until 1:30 PM.
Laydah, you'n's...............
I slept for about an hour and feel better for it. Now I have to brew another cup of coffee and get myself braced to go do the Nannie-routine, which will include this question: "Are we going out somewhere?" ...and the answer: "No, you don't go out anywhere until tomorrow." .... I guarantee a frown and a boo-boo lip will follow.
Tomorrow I take Tinker to the vet in the afternoon. I need to get my nails done soon. And I wish SiL would have some time to shape-up my hair a little, but I hate to ask her. I also would hate to have to go to a salon to have it shaped up, but I may do that in spite of the cost. SiL is always so busy and I don't want it to be something she again manages to slip in between other tasks, and then has to run off to do something else. I don't want to insult her, but I also don't want to wait another week or two, either,
"Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noon-day sun." I am not an Englishman and Tinker isn't mad, but you get the idea. First things first! Harness! Leash! Paper-towel to wipe the sweat from my brow.... THEN when we get back inside, I'll get Nannie up. I mean, I know what is important! And that is a dogs bladder!
OK, team, time to hit the yard! /// Eek! It is thundering!I hope I can get Tinker to do her biznezz before any rain starts! Well, at least there will be no noon-day sun.....
(Peeing accomplished before it rained! But oh the thunder is LOUD!)
Joe, do you use the muffins as desserts/snacks through the week? I'm planning to make another banana bread since we again have overripe bananas. It could be muffins, instead. More portable that way. 🙂 Last time I used the recipe from the Betty Crocker cookbook and liked it as it was not too sweet/sugary.
Tweety, I hope this problem resolves soon. I don't see the point in a second colonoscopy for sure. Probiotics?
Twin B is an admissions clerk 11p-7a Friday-Monday. Though it sounds as if that will be changing soon. They want him to work 16hr shifts 8 am - midnight on Saturday and Sunday alongside another clerk, taking on some more scheduling duties. And the plan is to not have a clerk from midnight to 8. Every day. Granted, we've looked at the numbers and the average number of arrivals during that time period is 1.5 but that means that ED nurses have to register the patient and be aware of the lobby and even outside the lobby. I have mixed feelings. As does Twin B.
Part of the problem with the patient the other night was poor communication on someone's part. The EMS providers who brought him did not leave paperwork from the nursing home and I don't know what they told the nurse but the nurse was under the impression he came from a half-way house and was homeless! The patient, who was sent by the nursing home for chest pain, didn't know why he was at the hospital and couldn't tell them much about where he lived. What a mess.
I haven't been able to bring myself to step on the scale. My pants are a little more snug and I'm having cravings for foods that are not the best choices.
dianah, taco salad sounds good. It is one of our warm-weather go-to's. We are supposed to have a high of 98 today but the humidity is a reasonable 48%. That sun is still hot (and, yes, BRIGHT).
Update # 3: The eye doc's office called and said the doc had a family emergency and had to leave this afternoon. So, I am rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 4 PM. Wonder if the appt will run long, and/or if I will be able to pick up Nannie before the Senior Center closes for the day at 5 PM. They don't like to stay past that 5 o'clock hour!
So, I called BiL and told him not to come today after all. And if they have to, one of them go will pick her up from daycare, "One of them" being BiL, no doubt, as SiL is so busy all the time. BiL said it has been pouring buckets over at his house, but all we have here is more thunder.
Welp, I do have time now to wash the sinkful of dishes, anyway. (yay?)
It's going to be warm today, up to 79. I was sitting here sipping my coffee and our sweet neighbor knocked on the door to tell me one of the dogs was out, across the road. Eeek. And then who comes trotting up to the door behind me but the miscreant himself. So I thanked her profusely, and then went to latch the gate that dh didn't shut last night. We have springs on the gates to pull them shut, but our bigger dog has figured out how to pull it open and slip out. Any way, it was time to put the coffee down and run some blueberries over to the food bank, about 10 lb.
Today youngest ds and I are going to his sister's old house to finish mowing the backyard. I suspect it will be more weed whacking than mowing. I hope he gets up soon before it gets too warm.
Yesterday we took bikes over to the state park and road a few miles. Youngest ds is trying to get more into biking as a means of fitness. He has been slowing increasing distance. The park is nice because there isn't much traffic, and the road is smooth. I am sure he will be sore today.
I have gained about 20 # in the last year. I suspect it is fluid retention. I had to delay my yearly echo and cardiology visit from May to the next available time in September. Plus, with heel tendonitis, it's too painful to jog. It could be worse.
Tweety, I glad the dog is better, but I wish your gut was as well. You probably already take in lots of pro and pre biotics. Surely they did sensitivities with labs?
I like muffins, but I hate putting the batter into the pan. I've been experimenting with adding healthier things like flax meal and non-wheat flours.
Our community created a facility for homeless to go to for short term recovery, when they need a little extra care, like dressings. They also have a walk-in clinic, plus showers and laundry.

Tweety glad Waffles is OK
Stars glad it was a quiet day
Dianah sounds like a fun time
Ado that was good that he alerted you to that patient
Was a pretty quiet day at work, which was good. After work went to the doctor's. BP still very good, weight up by 5 or 6 pounds, a bit more than expected. Will start doing weekly weights again and make some other changes to help bring the weight back down
Have decided I will limit myself to baking muffins only, no cakes or cookies anymore. The recipes make way too much for 1 person and it's way too easy to get carried away and overeat. Plus as things get busier there's less time for baking
Today nothing unusual going on at work, after work have the grocery shopping to do
Another fairly warm day, will get up to the lower 90s. By the end of the week think it will get back down to the mid 70s
