I actually got up in the AM hours. I tried to go back to sleep, but to no avail. Now I am up, dressed, downstairs in the den and having my restorative coffee; Momo has had her breakfast and done her biznezz, and is curled up tightly against my right hip.
Last night, Nannie had a cow because she thinks that since the blinds don't close all the way, there might be people (men!) standing outside the bathroom window, who can see her on the toilet. But there is a very tall hedge in front of those windows and no one could see her if they tried. Besides which, who is willing to push through the thick hedge to get a better view of a 94 year old woman by peeking through the <1/4" space in the blinds? Couldn't see much besides part of her head, anyway, as the toilet is so much lower than the window ledge, besides which she is clothed and there is NOTHING except her knees visible. I left BiL a text message that his mom was crabbing about the blinds and why. I hung a hand towel and a pillow case from the curtains with clothespins, so the gaps were totally covered up, and she said that made her feel much better. I told BiL that his mom still considered herself to be soooo very attractive to men, that they were drooling on the outside of the window and making her feel uneasy. I guess it's tough to be such a raving sex-symbol that men will go to any ends to merely catch a tiny glimpse her through a narrow sliver, through a window. OY! He texted back "LOL!" and said that he will come over and measure the blinds, get her a new one and mount it into place.
Kind of hoping she'd still be asleep but I just heard her clear her throat. I am going to take a chance and wait 10 more minutes before I go into her bedroom and say, in a sing-song voice, "Nannie-Banannie! Time to get up!" It still takes her a few times before she will open her eyes. I would hate it if someone said that to me every morning! I used to tell my mom, all she had to do is to say my name, and I'd wake up; no need to be coming in and shaking my shoulder or my foot to wake me up. Ergh!
Other than the usual dishes and laundry, I will be pulling the boxes out from under the bed, so whenever the "moving crew" comes over to get my platform bed into the 'new' bedroom, I will be prepared. No idea of when that might be, but hoping it'll be soon.
Okay, blah-dee-blah....I'm going to check the weather report and then make myself get up off the sofa and start Nannie's day.
Hi. It's yet another gray, drizzly day. I just got home from running errands: exchanging the cable box, dropping off items left behind at our house on Christmas, pedicure, new mascara to replace the one the dogs chewed up, milk and cheese, and dropping off pants at the cleaners for a zipper replacement. I forgot to take my eyeglasses along to see the plastic tips on the ear pieces can be replaced. Oh well.
dh is going to make baked chicken with tortellini tonight. And I going to play online trivia. It's wild and crazy around here. But I feel like taking a nap.
Hello all!
Quiet day, still recuperating. Sleeping better, not interrupted near as many times by coughing and blowing nose. We cancelled going to the house jam today, choosing instead to stay home and hack in our own home. ?
It's 63 degrees out, which is cool for here. Partly cloudy, which is nice (no burning sunshine like in the summers).
Joe, a state park sounds nice!
Tweety, we don't make resolutions either. Enjoy your days off!
No Stars, hope today was smooth, without Nannie drama (LOL about the gap in the blinds and Nannie fussing about it).
nursej22, hope you got a nap.
Wild and crazy here too. Have a good evening!
Nannie was less....what's the word, "verbose"? She did take a nice nap, so I went upstairs and did a few things. Now I am just finishing up the laundry. I ate a late supper because at 8:30 I realized I hadn't eaten yet! I nuked frozen Mixed Antioxident Vegetables and a package of chopped spinach and mixed it all together with some butter and salt/fresh-ground pepper. It was good. Saved about a third of it for tomorrow or the next day.
Momo is washing her feet. Nannie looks tired; it is 50 minutes until her bedtime, unless before-hand she says the magic words, "Can I go into that room now?" I would jump up and say YES!
Tomorrow SiL will come over and measure for and put up the bathroom blinds. She said something about giving me a check for $500 for groceries, but not sure when that will be. Then we will figure out about me getting paid for caregiving.
I still have not rec'd hubbys birth certificate yet. ☹️ It REALLY should be coming SOON so I can switch hubby's SS check to me. I am kind of irked they haven't sent it yet. I know, I know, it's the Holidays, but this is a small city Health Dept that handles that; they need to get on the stick!

Fifteen minutes left until her bedtime!

Hi TMB
Stars that must be quite annoying
NJ22 thanks for sharing the photo
Tweety my day was pretty low key too
Ado those paw prints do look pretty cool
Did make it outside yesterday morning, was surprised by how many people I saw. Guess going out hiking or running on New Years Day is a thing. Tried to get some bird photos but failed. Thankfully wasn't too cold
Came home and made waffles and bacon. Finally got the recipe right, beat the egg whites into a meringue before adding to the mix, which helped a lot. Watched the remainder of the opera which was kinda meh
Was not feeling good by the evening, not stick but very tired and irritable and angry for no apparent reason. It could be stress, as I know I will soon bring counseling to an end and begin the dating again. Have been keeping an eye on the cat due to the unusually frequent vomiting, so that could weigh on me too. Have started to feel better as I begin to think about other stuff to do in the new year
Still trying to figure out what to do instead of Madison this year. SW Michigan isn't looking as good, might try a state park on the way to Madison that I've never been to before
Cold day today in the mid 30s, thankfully no snow expected this week
