Honestly, I think that Tweety and Joe have "the luck of the Irish" (sarcasm) regarding their work days. Whatever will load them up while a 'good' day has been occurring, by the end of the shift will have turned into a ..... well, I can't use the word I am thinking of because TOS will have a fit if I do! But it seems to be a frequent enough happenstance for both of you! I still stand by my offer to go to their workplaces and grasp some people firmly by the shoulders and shake, rattle and roll them while yelling in their faces, "What in the ____ is the matter with you people?!"
It is Toozdaie and the CG is here for the afternoon because of Thursday being New Years Day. So, I am going to have to do some dishes and laundry even though this is supposed to be my "day off." Hahahahahahaha hahahahahaha. No rest for the weary!
It's kinda cold and windy today, but at least the sun is shining. And so, I will now get up and putter/putz around to see if I can make a little improvement on the house's indoor environs. It is already 3 PM, so we'll see......
I was thinking along similar lines about Joe's and Tweety's workdays, Stars.
Joe, I like National Geographic and for the last year or two I had online access (Twin B gave me a subscription and then I renewed it) but THEN I realized I can read it in Kindle form on my phone -- free -- through the library. I still see ads linking to stories that I might enjoy but don't have the time/inclination to go hunt down those stories through the library app.
I came in early this morning to help out and spent all my time with one patient who had been restless and agitated all night (hx of dementia). He wouldn't keep his arm straight so the IV pump was frequently alarming. Unfortunately, about mid-morning I looked at him and realized he was no longer with us. We ran the code but to no avail.
Stepson arrived safely back home and says it's 20 degrees there. We've made it up to nearly 50 but early this morning there was frost on the cars.
I took the dogs to daycare yesterday, and I think they had a good time. They got a glowing report card about being playful and getting along well with the other dogs. Whew. So they can come back and not need to be isolated. They were exhausted when we got home. They ate, and then barely moved for the rest of the evening.
I had lunch with eldest sis yesterday, and she gave me tips about cruising to Alaska. The I went to GNC to get copper supplement for other sis and dropped it off. When she saw the neurologist at UW he did an astonishing number of blood tests, and the one abnormal was low copper. Huh. But then she had to get a zinc and ceruloplasin (sp?) and then start the copper. She took a month to get the blood draw, and then thought she was supposed to take zinc. The doc called an RX to her pharmacy, but they told her she had to go to GNC. So now, she will finally start the copper. I also got dishes and a dog leash returned. I was going to get a present for dh, but the store that had it was closed. And then it was time to get the dogs.
For the last 3 days my stomach has been acidy and burp-y. Yuck. And so much reflux I can't sleep. I have the head of the bed elevated, but still got chest pain from it. My old stand-by for reflux, Pepto Bismo is not working. I just finished 6 weeks of Nexium. I am so tired. I will try sleeping in the recliner tonight.
Annie, that is sad about your patient. I always hated coding dementia patients because it felt so cruel.
I used to like National Geographic. My parents had a subscription and I used to read them from cover to cover. And as a kid, watching a Nat Geo special was an event!
I think we are going out tonight to celebrate dh's birthday. he's 69 today!
Good evening.
Happy Birthday to Mr. J22
Stars, didn't you take yesterday off from chores and were lazy. Time to suck it up and get busy. LOL. Just kidding. I know it's never ending and never a day off.
We had an alert and oriented person hit the code blue button just to see what would happen. Fool.
Yes, most days get progressively worse and then a poop show at shift change. We had two call offs today so I wasn't a "free charge" and didn't get a lot of leadership stuff done. They were able to float us on nurse. I know one nurse is bogus because she's out of town with family for Christmas, the other one calls out a lot but there's flu going around.
A nurse floated to us from another floor for night shift and when she came down she said she just got a call for a family emergency and was leaving. Okay.
We are busy with falls, fractures and infections. Plus our normal schedule of post op patients. Should slow down and I don't think many surgeries are scheduled tomorrow and none on the 1st.
It's cold here in the 50's and going down to the 40's. Freezing in parts of the state inland.
I have a new ache in my left thigh area when I move a certain way. Really? It's always sometime with me. Feels like a pulled muscle. I'll survive.

Tweety I'd be annoyed to have to attend a meeting on my day off
Stars the slow days can be nice
Ado hopefully things at the hospital quiet down
Work started off good, not much to do for the person who was out, and not much for me to do. Then the coworker who was helping to cover the person who was out had computer problems, so until she gets her new computer I have to cover the person who is out by myself. And then I got a new case.
Spend the remainder of yesterday doing stuff on the new case and working ahead to minimize my own work for today. Hopefully that will make today manageable despite the unexpectedly heavy load
Rest of the day was pretty quiet. Exercised, and stopped at the pet store and the library. Was looking through the magazines and decided to check out a National Geographic, which I haven't read in a long time
Today after work will be the grocery shopping, and exercise again if I have time
Will be a pretty cold day, in the lower 20s, hopefully less wind than yesterday
