Good morning!
Bummer about those folks catching covid. There's probably another wave coming up north that we'll get in the Summer like we have the last two summers. I'm thinking it's not going to be that bad. They also say with home testing rising we might be underestimating the case count.
j22, that kind of disorganization/incompetence is really frustrating.
Rose, thanks for the idea. I contacted a dog walker, sitter in the neighborhood to see if she could do it. Otherwise he just might have to miss a drop three days a week.
Stars, wouldn't be surprised if your husband is having BPH issues at his age. It happens. My 70 year old best friend is on medication for it. Hope he's feeling better, and if not considers getting checked out.
I left bowling because someone on the opposing team pointed out I was using an "illegal ball" and reported me to the president and because it's not a league rule but a rule of the national organization we belong to they wouldn't let me bowl with it. I declined to use the alley's ball and left. Bummer. But my team stayed in 2nd place without me. Apparently they changed the bowling ball rules in August 2020 and I've been bowling with my ball (with a weighted hole in it) since then and didn't know. Oh well...a rule is a rule.
Today I'm getting the crown started and want to mow some of the yard.
It's almost hot here and made it up to 85 although my car was saying 90.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Good morning all!
Tweety, is there someplace nearby where you can purchase the bowling ball you need, for a leftie AND that satisfies the nat'l association? Do you try them out before you buy? Or is it all online now: you send your specs and they build you a ball or find one that fits? Congrats on staying in 2nd place!
Joe, Sunday sounds nice, EXCEPT for finding out that the two members have Covid! Hope they are not complicated, heavy cases, and that you don't test positive. I recently had a convo with someone who shook his head and expressed relief that we don't "have to" wear masks anymore, and "I don't believe there was anything that serious in the first place..." Just refused to believe there was a pandemic, or that it was even a serious illness. SMH. Ppl have their own ideas, regardless of studies and reputable information sources' findings. He has never, I'm sure, seen someone with a serious case of Covid, nor has he seen anyone die of it. Anyway. I hope the worst is over, and whatever new strains present, turn out to be weaker strains, ones that confer immunity to the whole danged Covid family!
Our stomachs have been a little "off" since we ate at the RenFaire. We had fish and chips and while it was good (with the malt vinegar and tartar sauce), it WAS. SO. GREASY. Neither of us could finish, and since then we remarked we have felt kinda "off". So we ate lightly yesterday. Today we will practice a couple more times before tonight's program. We changed one of the song choices yesterday. Kinda "last-minute," but that's how it goes. The one we chose is one we're more familiar with, and may fit in better with the speaker's subject. Anyway, we're to report between 4:30 and 5, and the one-hour program starts at 6. I have my "cheat sheet" ready (first few words of the song lines, just in case my brain turns off, last-minute!), will put that discreetly on the floor (where I can see it!) during the program. Cameras won't be on us except for when we're playing, that's a relief.
No Stars, sad about your dh and his stomach issues and about the bottles you continue to find. Agree: Methinks the two are related... Hope he decides to go get checked out. Hope today with Nannie is unremarkable. Hope your gypsies are quiet! Are you still reading Outlander?
Have a good day!
Good morning. It raining. I just back to the office after a delightful home visit with a new patient. Just in case they are contagious, we initially see them in the home. Plus, as case managers we get a look at their living situation and strategize about any help we can extend or connect them with. The patient is from overseas and he had some lovely stories to tell. I hope we can get him healed and back to his life!
Stars, yup, BPH wouldn't be unusual, at all. Can lead to UTIs, and in serious cases, kidney damage. When my dh had some right sided abdominal pain a few years ago, he was diagnosed with diverticulitis. A short course of antibiotics and he was quite happier. But yeah, getting your hubs in to see someone who will likely ask about drinking is a good idea.
Speaking of dh, his appointment for his crown got moved up to today. Yeah. I'm hoping to get all that stuff done before he retires!
Joe, that must be a shock about the COVID exposure. I their courses are mild, and you stay healthy. I've got our home kits at the ready, but haven't needed them yet, and I hope it stays that way!
Tweety, yeouch about the bowling ball situation. I would be no good with a house ball. It has been a while since I got mine, but it seems like it took a week or 2 to get mine fitted and drilled. And I just had a cheapie from K-Mart, of all places. I hope you can get an eye dropper for Slo Bro.
Dianah, I hope your tummies are on the mend. I've seen guitar players with notes attached to their guitars sometimes. I can't hardly get through the Star Spangled Banner without a goof.
Bathing a cat!? Oh my, that does not sound fun, but neither does stinky cat. Rose, you deserve some sort of medal. The Croix de Chat Odorant.
Hi to all the rest of you-uns.
Dianah, hope that the stomach issues pass.
J22 glad you had a good visit.
I went to a "Pro Shop" at one of the big bowling alleys near here and got a ball. To my surprise it only took 15 minutes for him to drill it so I waited. Probably helped that I went early and was the first customer. Dianah you have to go in person to have the person measure your hand size and finger width so you go can fit the holes properly. You can buy a ball online and bring it to them, but I bought one of theirs. Inflation really raised the price for drilling. Almost double since the last time I had a ball drilled. They gave me two free games since I bought the ball there and I might go tomorrow to practice so I get a feel for it for when we bowl next Monday.
The dentist was torture. He removed a crown and drilled and filled in decay and put a temporary crown on. I have since chomped down on my numb lower lip and it's really going to bug me when I'm not number anymore. Right now my chin is itching like crazy.
Going to just stay in the rest of the evening and relax. I'm watching on Amazon a documentary called "Vinyl Nation" about the resurgence of vinyl records and record stores.
Hello! It is sunny and cool today. Hubby, Nannie and I all went to have our hair(s?) cut today, and each of us is satisfied with the results. I will like my cut better in about 3-4 days; the first day after a trim, my hair is a little stunned and takes several days to get over it! ? But no kidding, this woman does consistently excellent work; that's why I let her cut my hair. Most hairdressers I don't trust, and that's why I cut my own hair for years; if something was wrong or off, I could repair it or tolerate it, but there was nobody else to be mad at but myself. Anyway, we are all quite beautimus now.
Joe, Eeek! I hope you didn't get one single breath of any of the floating, invisible virus. I think we will, nowadays, all be knowing someone who has tested positive for "The Covid" (as they call it here), for a long time to come. Variations, mutations, cousins of the original, like that. The way I see it, besides the vaccinations, a face mask is my best friend!
Tweety, OMG! I am shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you, that you were using an "illegal bowling ball"! Of course, what shocked me more was that there is even such an item as an 'illegal' bowling ball! Good Grief. Also shocked that there was a tattle-tail in the league! (smh and rolling my eyes.) It's not like your bowling ball made you a super-champion bowler and gave you vast benefits over all the other bowlers, is it? I think not. Glad you got a new bowling ball and that the drilling of it was relatively easy. BUT, I am really sorry for your dental visit drilling woes. I have been there and done that and I know it's NO FUN, to say the least!
dianah, I am not sure if hubby confesses to the booze to the PCP, but *I* had told the doc about it at my last appointment. Yesterday I was emptying the indoor recycling into the outdoor bin, and hubby walked out the front door just as I was counting the little bottles I could see at the bottom of the bin outside. When I turned around and saw him there, he said, "What did you say?" I told him that I said, "One-two-three-four-five-six-seven....good grief!" He didn't say anything else, like asking "seven what?" so, I reckon he figured it out! // Yes, the gypsies are essentially behaving themselves and only peep through every so often...but not for long.
And get this!!------The hairdresser ( our friend) asked hubby how he's feeling, because he didn't act like he felt good. He told her his s+s, and she said, "That's exactly what I had! I had to have my gall-bladder taken out!" I said to hubby, "And you need to call the Dr and make an apt ASAP!" He told me he had called and got an appt for June 7th, which I said was too long for him to wait. After the hairdresser told him of her experiences, she told him he should not even think of waiting so long to see the doctor. So, he actually went outside right then, called the Dr's office again and told them he didn't believe he could wait until June 7th....so they said to call the office first thing in the morning and get a "same-day" appointment. I told our hairdresser, "He listens to you more than he listens to me!" But I'm glad he did/does listen to her; it doesn't bother me a bit. Like, whatever gives him some traction in his brain, as long as it works to get him moving, y'know?!....AND, get this!---> he said when they scanned his lung, they told him he does have a gall-stone, but at the time they didn't think it was anything to worry about. HUH! The things ya hear about, long after the fact!
j22, I have been worrying about hubby's kidneys (due to him having type 2 diabetes). It seems to me that he just keeps collecting co-morbidities, and putting off doing anything about them. He has s+s that lead me to think he also might have an enlarged prostate, which he denies, but hmmmm, I think it needs to be checked!
amo-Lu, We got mail! Nannie got a kick out of her card within a card. Once I reviewed who you were and told her that you had sent her cards before, which she remembered you did, she said, "Oh, that's so sweet of her to think about me."
Hey Rose, and hello to BCg, as well as anyone I am leaving out (as I usually do forget somebody.)
Oh, PS: There is one reason I think hubby should NOT listen to our hairdresser about all health issues: she said she wasn't going to get a Covid booster because of how sick she was for three days after the first Covid shot, and, she said, "I've heard there is anti-freeze in the boosters, so I'm not getting any more Covid shots!" Really? Really! ANTI-FREEZE?????? Good Gawd awmighty! That beats the claim that GPS chips were in the first batch of injections. smh.
Yay Tweety, got a new bowling ball already!! Sounds like a good plan to try it out before Monday! Hope when the numbness recedes, the pain will be tolerable. Or at least, medicate-able.
No Stars, you all look SO good after your visits to the hairdresser!! And I have heard it called many things. The one that makes me grin is "I got the 'Rona!" ? ?
Well, we practiced and now we will get presentable and drive all of one block to the studio, and get ready. If anyone wants to watch, look up LLBN Broadcasting online. They will stream tonight's Christian Connections from the website. Goes from 6-7 Pacific Time. Our part is very small. ?
Have a good evening!

Tweety glad no drama on this shift
Dianah most people wore masks, except the choir who were up in the choir loft. I think Dad may prefer online to in person services
NJ22 sorry the trip was a bit disappointing
Stars hope you DH feels better
Hi Rose
Found out that the minister and a choir member tested positive for Covid. So I'll be monitoring my temps and doing some tests later in the week. And wearing a mask for the next 10 days. Mostly likely I'll cancel dinner with J and lunch with dad, as a precaution. So far I feel fine
Work was sorta busy, another team needed some help. And late in the day I found the coworker who is off got some additional stuff I need to follow up on, thankfully she's back tomorrow
Nothing else unusual going on here
Will be in the upper 40s today, though warmer later in the week
